Actually, sorry to disappoint you bro but I have to drop this bad news on you. Having read through K-tai Watch website and several sources, it has been confirmed that the Wifi feature on the N906iL is simply restricted to FOMA service area in Japan only, just like how 1-seg TV works on NTT Docomo phones. Simply to put, unless a Docomo FOMA simcard is inserted into the handset, the Wifi feature will be locked down, as simple as that.

This move is actually understandable because with the new NEC N906iL model, NTT Docomo this time has introduced a new flat-rate Wireless LAN data plan known as Home-U,
as revealed in this japanese article by K-tai Watch. It comes at a monthly flat-rate price of 1029yen, and you will be able to use data access at home on i-mode, W-LAN networks as well as making free voice-calls via VoIP feature at home, as long as you have the NEC N906iL handset with this Home-U plan subscribed. On top of this new plan, current domestic NTT Docomo subscribers must also have the packet data service (known as Pakehodai to them) or packet data-full (Pakehodai-Full) subscribed first before been able to use this service, on their NEC N906iL.

Their Pakehodai-Full plans are actually similiar to what we have here locally via service providers like Singtel or Starhub, where we pay a monthly flat-rate pricing for fixed data access plans via 3.5G networks, for example ST's Broadband on Mobile, and Starhub's MaxMobile plans.

As for the upcoming SH906iTV with added GSM network capability other than 3G, yes I have already highlighted this on my SH906iTV post previously on the 1st page over here, maybe u missed that post earlier on. This is certainly good news for exotic lovers, for those who are infatuated with Sharp's Cycloid-style hinge models and would like to try out the SH906iTV this time round, as previously most of us couldn't 'own' the SH905iTV due to it been 3G-network capable only

It will still requires FOMA network to operate.

NTT DoCoMo's 906i and 706i handsets answer "who's your daddy?"

We'll get into more detail later, but we thought it was appropriate to share the moment when the Japanese showed the world just how pathetic your 3G iPhone fantasies really are. Announced today are 19 new handsets from NTT DoCoMo's 906i and 706i series. All 8 of the 906i feature 3G / GSM international roaming, GPS, HSDPA, 1-seg mobile TV, full browser with Flash 8 support, DCMX mobile credit card and iD mobile credit payment tech, VGA LCD screens, and voice to text translation of Chinese, English, and Japanese. Some even support direct transfer of Blu-ray video. The 11-strong 706i series features a variety of handsets including a waterproof 1-Seg phone, world's slimmest 1-Seg phone, and a wellness phone to monitor your health and diet. All eleven 706i phones rounded up and pictured after the break.

Willcom shows off 1seg-equipped Willcom 03 smartphone
by Donald Melanson, posted May 26th 2008 at 4:14PM

It looks like those wanting something a bit more capable but just as brightly-colored as Willcom's most recent candybar phones could soon be getting their fix, as the company has just announced its new Willcom 03 smartphone, which packs a bundle of features into an eye-catching package. Up front and center on this one is a 3-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen display, which should complement the built-in 1seg mobile TV tuner quite nicely. Otherwise, you can expect built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, along with 256MB of flash memory, a microSD card slot for expansion, a 2 megapixel camera, and Windows Mobile 6.1 for an OS, to name but a few features. Look for this one to hit Japan by the end of June.

in general, i always thought wifi is a standardized "protocol" so that many hardwares can comunicate regardless of regions...

anyway, i'm not surprise the japanese implement certain kinds of "locks" even towards this function...

Maybe that before you could enter into WiFi menu, you need to connect to FOMA network first (just like 1-SEG function, you need an active DoCoMo SIM to enable the function) before you could configure the settings. My guess.

I'd discover the improvement done on p906i was the horizontal screen change. Its something which most users look forward to as the conventional one doesn't come with horizontal viewing except on the imotion and other video related programs

yes, the SH906i make ppl think of the SH903i, which is a good sign.

i would love to see a great successor for SH903i!

guessing time, how much do you guys think SH906i gonna cost?

it should be on sales in japan on 1st June 2008
probably gonna take 3-4 months to ensure the price stability before forumer like vodafone & bearbrick will start bringing them in rolleyes.gif

I think will be over RM2k but less than RM2.5k. Depends on the demand and supply. Most probably can take in within 2-3 weeks time if there is anybody paying for that price.

Now just a waiting game to see the bypass method still works.

Hmm he said so far so good and just that he said the fingerprint censor is not so easy to be swipe (maybe of his incorrect swiping posture cause that too). Could use the biometric validation login when phone startup, so if you lost the phone also won't easily expose your personal data.

Signal stability seems good also when he travel from KL back to Ipoh then to Penang.

ok, just short review for the phone f905i:
screen- it is large n colour is nice, i think the colour is more sharper than p905i
comera - it can take decent photo for 3.2mp camera, but cant compare to p905i which is 5mp.
system - it is more lagging n slow than p905i
quality of the phone is good when hole at hand, it is solid.
stability- stabilily for the phone is ok when i travel kl-tarcollege-ipoh-penang. but when i sleep n morning wake up is show TML(out of line) need to restart the phone but do need to do cpr. the phone have TML several time, but just need to restart then is ok lah. so for i never do cpr for this phone. it need to test the phone for stability issue for more time, cause perviously my p905i also give me problem for stability but after a week, it become damm stable, no need do cpr n restart. hopefully f905i also same like p905i
