Full Version: Suggestion of using which type of broadband

I am currently using streamyx broadband. Anyway, i found that it gives me too much problem.
Sometimes problem with slow connection speed or even dc....and the price is quite high SINCE we need to pay RM88+RM23 = RM111 for the whole thing.

Heard that there are some other broadband such as Maxis, celcom, izzi etc..
I read many posts which complaints this n that....

So, i would ask for some suggestion that which type of broadband is suitable for me

1. would like a good speed broadband
2. monthly fees would be cheaper than streamyx ( RM111)
3. possible to play ORPG games without much connection interuption
4. my housing area (Pudu - near timesquare KL)

Optional
5. It is better if modem can be brought around(wireless)

any advice ?

If you want good connection speed, scrap that idea and stick with streamyx.. No other provider provide better speeds... (IMHO)

is this a good speed shown ? @@

Are you on the 512Kbps package , if so its superb. Check if you are capped correctly , sometimes streamyx will cap you wrongly

If you think streamyx is bad , go ahead and try maxis wireless for a week and run few MMORPG games and check the latency out for yourself

Log in ur modem by default ip 192.168.1.1 (user & pass can get in ur modem manual)

See ur downstream & up stream, if 1Mbps package capped min 1M(1024) or more.
Dowmstream - 1024 or more
Upstreamyx - 384 or more

If less than 1M(1024), u need complain to TM by calling 100 from ur fixed line or go TM Point.

Yes , but you'll have to pay like RM 100. Trust me once you have tried maxis. You'll appreciate streamyx !

I think same goes for the rest, I used to be on TIME's Webbit and although the service was good, once I changed to Streamyx I never looked back. Perhaps some of the Streamyx users who are ranting never tried other providers/service. hmm.gif
prasys
Exactly. If you think streamyx 'sucks'. Kindly test out other broadband , especially maxis broadband. It will make you to appreciate streamyx and you'll pretty much start to appreciate even though their connection somewhat sucks. I could come to a conclusion that no other broadband comes close to streamyx*

IMHO, if your main purpose is playing online games, then nothing beats Streamyx because the latency is less than wireless.

I use Streamyx and Celcom Broadband and Streamyx beats Celcom Broadband anytime.

If you want to test out Celcom Broadband and you are on prepaid with a 3G SIM card and a 3G handphone, then subscribe to the daily unlimited at RM8 to check it out. Dial *118# from your handphone and follow the instructions in the menu.

Use Maxis Broadband. I'm using it now and I get spped of 600kbps regularly. No problem, happy with it. Much faster than celcom Broadband. I'm in Ampang area.
