Several info on the game:

The Lord of the Rings Conquest is the upcoming video game developed by Pandemic Studios and published by Electronic Arts. It is based on The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, and borrows much of the gameplay mechanics from Pandemic's Star Wars: Battlefront games. The game allows the player to play as both the forces of good and evil, but unlike The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth, the latter option is based around Sauron stopping the One Ring from being destroyed and fighting back.
Pandemic was aided by Weta Digital in developing the game. They provided many of their digital models, including the fell beasts. Pandemic is also negotiating to use elements that were cut from the films, and have taken inspiration from the novel, such as a level based around Balin's conquest of Moria. Some inspiration was less direct: the heroes decide not to attack Minas Morgul, so a level was based around conquering that city as if they did. The game will use Howard Shore's score to the films.
Campaign
There will be both Good and an Evil campaign, varying greatly in storyline. The good plays out as the films do and the evil plays out as though Frodo had never destroyed the ring.
Good Campaign (The War of the Ring)
- The Battle of Gorgoroth Is the training stage and the first level in the game.
- Battle of Helm's Deep The player must defend the ancient fortress of Helm's Deep from Saruman's Uruk-hai.
- Isengard Presumed to be a level in which the player must fight Saruman as Gandalf.
- Mines of Moria The player must fight their way through Moria ending the level with a climatic confrontation with the Balrog vs. Gandalf
- Battle of Osgiliath The player must defend Osgiliath from Sauron's armies.
- Battle of Minas Tirith The player must defend the mighty white city.
- Battle of the Pelennor Fields Will allow the player to play as the Rohirrim at the battle on the Pellenor Fields.
- Battle of Minas Morgul This is a mission that happened neither in the books (though it was discussed by the characters as an option) nor in the movie, however it is where the player must conquer the evil fortress so they can get to the Black Gate.
- Battle of the Black Gate The mission objective of this level is to hold out against the wave of Sauron's army. Gandalf, Gimli, Legolas and Aragorn are playable in this mission.
Evil Campaign (The Rise of Sauron)
The Evil Campaign will be available after finishing the Good Campaign, and shows what would happen if Frodo failed to destroy the One Ring in an alternate story
- Mount Doom The player must play as a Nazgûl to kill the rebelling Orc chieftains and finally kill Frodo and Sam at the crack of doom.
- Osgiliath The player must destroy and recapture the city in preparation to siege the White City.
- Minas Tirith The player must destroy the White City to defeat the world of Men.
- Pellenor Fields The player must kill all the Rohirrim and stop them from saving Minas Tirith.
- Mines of Moria The player must summon the Balrog and destroy the men of Gondor who have inhabited it.
- Weathertop The player must kill Aragorn as a Nazgûl.
- The Shire The player must go around burning the Shire and slaughter all of the hobbits as well as killing Gandalf as Sauron.
- Rivendell The player will destroy the Elves in Rivendell as Sauron himself!
Multiplayer
Competitive multiplayer modes include conquest, capture the flag and hero deathmatch, all of which are borrowed from the Star Wars: Battlefront games. New modes include:
- Ring Bearer: One player plays as Frodo and the remaining players are Ringwraiths. Frodo must stay alive and evade the Ringwraiths as long as possible. The Ringwraith that kills Frodo becomes the new Frodo.
- Up to sixteen players can play online. Cooperative mode is available for up to 4 players split-screen and up to four players online on the Xbox 360 & 2 players split-screen for the PS3.
Classes
Each class in the game has a unique style. Styles include melee, ranged, and magic.
The 4 known playable classes for each faction are as followed:
- Warrior: A melee combat unit which uses swordplay. Warriors can gain strength to unleash more powerful attacks, like setting their swords on fire. Warriors can also block and perform counter attacks with special moves. The warrior also has an axe as a secondary, short-ranged weapon.
- Archer: A long ranged unit with a bow and arrow that plays like a third person shooter. Different types of arrows have been confirmed such as fire arrows which can burn things, poison arrows which slow enemies down and does damage over time, and a triple shot attack which fires a volley of three arrows. They also have a close quarters attack, which knocks down the enemy.
- Scout: A master in the art of moving unseen. The scouts weapons are two knives. A known move of this assassin is back stabbing a troll. The scout has the ability to cloak and kill units from behind. He also has fire bombs as a ranged attack.
- Mage: A magic user with a staff that can use spells on enemies and is a support unit. Mages can use magical attacks like lightning blasts, fire, and shockwaves. Mages can also create a bubble around them for defense. They can also use their staffs as melee weapons for close quarters enemies, though it is not as effective.
