Hey guys, is it advisable to get my m1530 here or over at US? Will be going over there to study, the only problem with ordering there is i have to wait for about 3 weeks or so for it to arrive.. Malaysia about 1 week only right? Plus, the nvidia problem is pretty bothering. Haha...
*

Yup in US you'll get better support and cheaper also i think. they have better customer support and ease to change your parts and get servicing in case (touch-wood) your 1530 any problem.

Maybe a call to Dell would settle the problem bro? You should be under warranty by them right? Give them a call, hopefully they could send their technician over..

Btw guys.. while waiting for the Nvidia problem to be solved, would the eee pc make a decent substitute for normal university usage? I don't wanna spend to much on a substitution cause the m1530 is gonna cost me a bomb already..

is the media button still has plastic cover on it?
if yes, remove it because the plastic cover will make the media button insensitive.

if the problem not solves, you have to contact XPS Technical Support.

a tech guy will come to your house and check-it for you. maybe problem with the connector.

do you guyz having problem same like mine when using photoshop or creating a website using XPS M1530? the color is different when we open it in CRT monitors.. how to fix it?
*

The LCD panel on the M1530 is TN type, meaning, it's of lower quality and as such would offer relatively bad color reproduction on the screen whilst most CRT has good colors but not preferable due to the bulk of it.

You can calibrate your LCD monitor but you could only go so far, and there are no better quality panels of laptops other than TN panels IMHO. I never see the LG panels but I doubt it could beat the colors produced by a CRT. Other than calibration, you could consider using the CRT when you are using photoshop and stuff. Otherwise, you could invest in better monitors with S-IPS or M-PVA panels that offer better color reproduction but most of them come at a premium.

Mine eject, play, stop, forward and other multimedia touch button seems very sensitive. If yours is not, I think you better call DELL and let them know about it.

i almost got myself a xps m1530 few days ago but then i found out that there's problem with the nvidia graphic cards offered in the xps m1530 laptops.

If there's problem with the nvidia 8400M & 8600M, why do dell still offer the particular graphic cards in xps m1530?

could it be... not everyone who owns xps m1530 has issues with the nvidia graphic cards? or is it that the ones they offer to sell now, they have tested and made sure that there's no heat-related issues with the graphic cards? (if that's the case i'll order 1 right now lol)

or probably dell is trying to clear off the faulty stocks?

...

i dunno whether i'm posting at the right section

It's not the heat issue. It's something's wrong with the design that cause the GC to "die" slowly.

I think what Cheesenium meant is that because of the higher temp, the GPU will have a shortened lifespan?

I heard from the Dell Customer Service Centre that some M1330's have performance drop as you use.

Something's wrong with the hardware.

I doubt it's the temperature problem.
~Rogue~
but it doesnt affect the 1530 line rite?

Well an article did state that it affects the 84 and 86 line of cards so you can exclude the M1530 from this. However, the problem does happen more often to the M1330 than M1530.

other Dell laptop series (M1330, M1730, Inspiron, Vostro) already got new System BIOS update for thermal control enhancement.
besides that, they also got latest update for GPU driver, audio driver etc but our M1530 still the old one.
no love for M1530 from Dell sad.gif

i mean how do u check are we using the latest driver?

my bro intendding to buy m1530,
there's a few question i'd like to ask,

does anyone have a heat problem eith m1530? well because that m1530 is equipt with graphic card and high speed processor... im sure it will consume a very vast heat,
another thing is..the laptop is slim...so the ventilation might be a lil bit poor..(this is just my thought)

another thing is...when me n my bro choosing the warranty...there is 'xps 1 year+complete cover wrranty' which is the standard warranty...and 'dell care 1 year warranty' this warranty comes wit hadditional price of Rm127
what are the diffrence between these 2 warranties?

when choosing window vista...the are various type of window vista, what are the diff between vista home basic, home premium and ultimate?

can u guys tell me what are the problem with the nvidia 8600m? the previous post r telling that the 8600 will kill the mobo slowly...is it true...?

last but not least....is M1350 worth buying? no offense guys...i own a dell 1720...i bought the 1720 at high spec with a lower price,

Hope guys can answer my question

TQ
llhm87
Heat is not a big issue for M1530 because I'm using my laptop everyday. The difference between Vista Home Basic, Home Premium and Ultimate is kind of obvious. You can go to Microsoft website to see the difference.

If you think that 1720 is cheaper and better then just go for the laptop. No offense.
~Rogue~
yup, advanteage for 1720 is it has a nother hdd den xps, and as for the gpu problem well i think its all about luck, u dont see many of us m1530 user complain bout heat problem or due to gpu dead, just a minor of them, as for heat vantilation i prefer using a notebook coller, just to be on the safe side, keep my laptop as cool as possible,!

i am expecting my XPS m1530 next week.

250 gig hdd
256 nvidia 8600 gt
6 cell bat
3 years warranty + complete accidental cover

other spec r standad... plus a dell nylon backpack.

total cost is rm 395x

cant wait. damn.

well, actually it has been discuz b4, but as for 3gb and 4gb the oni difference u can see is when u are using vista 64bit, althou now vista sp1 32bit can see the total amount of ram is in ur laptop, but infact it still utilize 3gb or may 3.5gb, but i 'll advise dat u dont upgrade ram instead of invest more on ur proc or gpu! rclxms.gif

Heard from friends that gaming on Vista is sometimes problematic, is it true?

Juz settle my mind on XPS 1530~
Had some experience in pcfair as i used to work on selling hp laptops. But thts was back in kch, now settling in penang.
But several survey tempt me into buying during pcfair. Hopefully it's cheaper then on9.

But as for the processor, T5750 or T7250? 667Mhz or 800?
And for Geforce, 256MB is a must for a heavy gamer like me! So juz wondering should i go for 8600 or 9500? As my fren got XPS of 9500 on d last pcfair.
For d RAM, is it cheaper if upgrade to 3/4 G from dell or buy later? Since it comes with 2x1GB RAM.

Lastly, pcfair usually giv extend warranty? From d past posts dated back in 2007, many got free extended to 3 yrs + alotsssssss freebies. So hopefully i can get a nice deal!
evilhomura89
got my lcd monitor replaced with a LG Philips LPL0301...before that i think i'm using the china brand one...den got one faulty red vertical line on the screen and got it replaced

It depends.

Older games might have some problem but i have not seen any game's problem is so serious till it's unplayable.

Newer games with the Games for Windows will work flawlessly on Vista.

Cos from what i know, it lags when you play FIFA 08 using a system running on 8600 though.
So I'm actually still considering whether to get 8400 or 8600. hmm.gif

so are they gonna replace with us with the new 86 gpu?
