I thought the only difference between brown rice and white rice is that white rice is heavily processed while brown rice is not so processed hence able to have the original nutritional values.

Cheers

Brown rice has higher protein, higher fiber and its unrefined.
amanstiva
If you want to find a subtitute for rice, why not try the basmathi rice?

The only difference of white rice and brown rice are the nutritional value. But it helps a lot in the process of healthy living.

Brown has better nutrition value.
White should have more carbs.
Any types of carb food if eaten in access will make you fat.
kianweic
Interesting how people would rather have less nutrition but better taste including myself.

Oh well, indulging in food is part of life.

Live to eat or eat to live?

Brown rice has more fibre and keeps you feeling full longer compared to white rice. That's why it's recommended for those trying to lose weight. It also retains more nutrients since it's not processed.

All rice is brown, the ones which are usually bought or consumed are bleached and processed rice, since not many prefer the slightly rougher and chewy texture of brown rice smile.gif

My family started eating brown rice mixed with white rice 2 years ago after my dad found out that brown rice actually contains less glucose.
Nowadays we eat plain brown rice after getting used to how it tastes.

how's the taste of brown rice as compare to the normal rice? i thought brown rice is meant for those have diabetic illness?
joychin89
Brown is definately more healthy than white. When you eat white rice, your blood level immediately shoots up high and it's not very good especially if you have diabetes. Brown rice releases the sugar into your blood stream slowly and you'll be full longer than if you eat white rice.

The taste is definitely not as good as white rice.
But due to the fact that it is healthier, you might wanna try ?
You can start with mixing both together, just in case you don't get used to the initial taste.
Then bit by bit, you increase the ratio of brown rice to white rice.
It's not meant for those with diabetic illness, but it is a precautionary measure nod.gif

White rice does not have any nutritional value thus why if you eat a lot of white rice on lunch, you'll feel sleepy as it use up your body's Vit-B. Have anyone heard that Vit-B might help those who feel tired to be alert ( not include not enough sleep)

Those who like to eat fragrance rice, esp Thai rice, please be informed that rice is not fragrant naturally. The fragrant come from the rice being soak with chemical. It is dangerous to people on level 4 cancer state.
