I actually admire the Nikon FF 14-24 f2.8! notworthy.gif

And now I hope they made one with similar performance and focal length with f4, or f5.6 also ok... Make it cheap cheap and I will get one. notworthy.gif

The new Nikon super wide is on my wish list. It will be used on the Canon FF via convertor. I know I will loose autofocus, but I do not need that. In fact, I dun even need f2.8. That's why I ask them to produce one with smaller aperture, but price cheap cheap la... if possible RM2000 or less.... notworthy.gif

I believe 5D + Nikon 14-24 + converter are still cheaper than D3 shocking.gif

I had never see that lense nor has chances to try its performance.

Does anyone know who in Malaysia has that lense? Hope can give it a try...

By the way, I just found out that there is no one in Malaysia that has bought the old EF1200 f5.6 USM L. blush.gif

Who got that?

For me, the 105mmVR is difficult to use.
I tried to take macro and potrait...
Both will shake. Danger!!!
So, the VR is very helpful to minimize it if you want hand held.
ifer
for macro and micro shots, it is easier to use a tripod.
but of course, if you are talking about dragon fly, it is hard to tripod the camera. hehee

Hmmm... may be I get a free tripod from my bro in law...

Kekeke...
I'll check with him.

But why Tamron or Tokina over Nikkor here? Why u say that?

Guys... any of these ring a bell? Any of these I should scavage from my bro in law?

oh i am targeting the 24-70 also.
but not now lah. maybe in another 3 months time. ahahaa

Nice lens to get, very sharp and future proof as well especially if you intend to move to a full frame camera. I wonder if Nikon will come out with a model to compete with the 5D price range. Good to have a cheaper alternative compared to the D3.

I would say Nikon sure will... but I believe it depends on how low the price Sony willing to sell Nikon the CMOS sensor... If the sensor already US500 each... that hard to have cheaper model like 5D la...

Sony tends to reduce their prices after a while from my experience last time when we ordered their CCD's for video camcorder but again it depends on the number of units. Since the D3's production capability is around 8k-9k a month, then their volume isn't high enough to command that of a cheaper price. With another introduction of a 5D challenge model, it would give Nikon a way to increase the volume but then again, it would take a while for prices to drop.

Hey... talk lens la... not sensor la.
ifer
60 and 105 are both different lenses lerr.
tim, if you are into nature photography 105 is perfect or perhaps a little on the short side.

but what if orenzai is more interested in doing some still life/table top photography? 105 might be too long for him...

Oh ya...
That is true. But if just wanna use the 60mm, then the 50mm f/1.8 or 1.4 might be more suitable?
Joseph Hahn
The 60mm is a macro lens which means the magnification is still 1:1 despite the shorter range. brows.gif With the 50mm you'll have to get extension tubes/close-up filter to achieve that. tongue.gif

bro...
i m doing still life table top...
i use my 105 for the sharpness and also theFOV it covers...also...i dun have to go to near...=)
to me 105 is excellent for product shoot...
Mavik
Frankly for product shoot using macro lenses, its easier to have a longer focal length especially when you are working with multiple lights. Getting too close might be difficult if you have large softboxes and your camera and body is getting in the way.

I also support focal length of around 100mm.

It is why I dislike both Canon and Nikon 60mm... I still prefer longer.... longer is better. If 135mm lagi nice!

Brother, you need to know the exact lense you want...

If your heart is with 105mm and you buy 60mm now becuase of budget... Then 6 months later regret, resell the 60mm for lost and buy back the 105mm only...

You need to know what you want... That's the most important thing... And avoid mistake in buying lenses, especially new lenses that will lost the most. cool2.gif
