Hi, as my topic title suggests, I will soon be moving to Upper East, Ampang Hilir (near Raintree Club). I was wondering if there were any better ISPs compared to streamyx? Because I'm using streamyx right now and I'm getting disconnected quite frequented. Being a frequent gamer, this is extremely annoying and I would like to know if there are any better ISPs for me once I move to Ampang Hilir. Any suggestions/recommendations?
Also, some questions I have:Is wireless broadband slower than wired broadband? As a gamer, is it recommended for me to subscribe for a wireless broadband service?
If I plan on getting a wired broadband service, which one should I subscribe for?
If I plan on getting a wireless broardband service, which one should I subscribe for?
Thanks a lot,
Jonathan

yo jonathan, wassup?
i would like to inform u of my experience using wireless bb. currently im using maxis wireless bb, and i can assure u its service really sucks when it comes to gaming. FYI, wireless bb has many disadvantages. first of all, it has a LOT of losses in signals. like im currently using now, the maxis power package 3.4mb. well, they can say 3.4mb, but u cant expect it to reach tat level. rite now im playing cabal, but to my surprise, every 5min it will dc me from server. becoz maxis sucks. it has a lot of timeout. for example, if u tend to play most of asiasoft online games, they will download a so called online security. as for cabal, its the X-Trap. being a 300kb+ and 400kb+ to download, my maxis will hung halfway during the 300kb part. and the X-Trap wont continue download if the isp is timeout more than 10 sec, to say the least. so i need to open task manager, kill the process, and start again, and hang again, kill again... so i really not recommending playing online games using ANY wireless isp. esp games that need low ping like dota and cs. for wired isp, there's nothing u can do much. here in malaysia, its like there is NO other isp except tm. but there r a few small isp, but with super small coverage. since u r moving in, ur phone number might change, and the streamyx riser will also change, that is ur streamyx port. try out streamyx in ur area 1st, and if it is still not reach ur expectation, then think thrice to apply for wireless bb. maxis has 18month contract. and it wont allow much of a torrent during the days. wont even reach an average of 5kb during the day. can only use after 1am till 6am. u will get 40kb on average during tat time. i dunno bout celcom, but it IS a wireless bb, expect to get below satisfactory QoS. but maxis quality for surfing is good.
to conclude:
gaming, download, torrent: NO to wireless bb
surf: acceptable to wireless bb
wired isp: choose one, tm or jaring
REMEMBER: WIRELESS BB has a lot of losses!! IT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA TO PLAY GAMES WITH WIRELESS BB!! EXP MAXIS!!! IM ONE OF THE VICTIMS!! i even apply for streamyx LOL.

if you are heavy user and like to play games i suggest u just stick to Streamyx.
Jaring also doesnt serve as well as Streamyx. Since it also has problem even to connect to local server because the local server itself is using TM Line.
Anyway im living in Pandan Indah and its nearby Ampang Hilir as well. As far as i know i never had such dc b4 in this area ^^

Hey, thanks for the quick feedback and advice.
Now, onto a second question, if I subscribe for streamyx and use a router so that I can use streamyx for two computers, will my Internet speed be significantly slower? Will it affect my gaming much?
Thanks.
