Looks like Nikon won't be far behind with their FF body I guess since most of what I've heard is that Nikon uses Sony's Sensors.

I thought they finally have their own sensor already? before this i heard before they use sony sensor also...
zio
Nope, Thom Hogan confirmed that the D300 uses Sony CMOS sensor. But of course Nikon is not opened about it.

From my memory, all Nikon dSLR are using Sony sensors except those very old one like D1 and D100.... which they tried to have thier own sensors, but results are really bad... and just of waste all the investment on R&D. So the management will not have second thought of using Sony sensor. cool2.gif

d3 is a nikon in house sensor, the d300 is not.
hanafinoor
Anyone have the idea on its pricing?

nikon always had the technology to make sensors, they make the pressers for sony's sensor production as well. it's just economics of scale and money.

Hmm... Interesting article...

I do know NIkon do not have the technolligy because the D2H was a joke... I mean it is a fine camera, the problem is on the image.

Since Nikon refuse to reveal the manufacturer... it sould like it is possible... Hahahaha.... Canon I think...

It is a easy guess... who else has the manufacturing technolgy beside Canon & Sony? whistling.gif
soulfly
Samsung got
Pentax use Samsung made sensors if not mistaken

Nikon could've made a design and just ask other manufacturers to make it.

But if Samsung did it... Why need to be so secretive, right? tongue.gif

doesn't really matters who manufactures it, the d3 sensor is their own design. even if sony were the manufacturers, they're only doing it as a 3rd party.

d sensor in nikon d3 is designed by nikon (as claim by nikon) but not manufactured by nikon... so maybe it is manufactured by sony as dey never mention who is d manufacturer
