Do you need pocket wizards to trigger flashes when you are using in these situations?
1. 580EX II on Cam as master, 430EX on tripod as slave.
2. 580EX II as master and 430EX as slave both on tripods, flash triggered by CAM using built-in flash to trigger it. ( i do not know this works or not, im just guessing that both flashes has light sensors)

you can use the optical slave hotshoe to trigger any flash off camera
but if you're going to use the pop-up flash, you need a hotshoe slave which can sync with preflashes, unless the pop-up flash can be set to manual power.
pocket wizard is radio based. it can be more accurate and works better outdoor for example under hot sunny day.

Hmm.. so i can see that you eventually need a PW when you are putting two flashes on two tripods.. so i basically do not need a PW if im using a master to control a slave.
In another situation, i need a PW if i only have one flash. and it's on a tripod.. eh?

you can either use an off-shoe cord or the st-e2 so PW is not really necessary

you need PW in situations where optical slave mode hard to apply for example outdoors (ambient light disrupts the optical trigger), or the flash positioning.

i checked from the internet, some sells them $200+ . So let's say it's $200 x 3.6 = RM720. It's also around that PW's price too...

st-e2 where got so expensive, shashinki selling at RM695 so you can get it for less at local shop. btw the price for PW is that with or without shipping, dun forget to add in shipping cost if you are getting online, I am not sure how much local shop is selling the PW, but it most probably cost more than the st-e2

I just realise something, the Pocketwizard Plus II may not be a kit, it's just either a receiver or transmitter but not both. They have another
Pocketwizard Plus kit for Rm1200, this one comes with both

that's what i was thinking.... coz the cheapest set (receiver and transmitter) i saw online was about RM9xx (dollar converted to US).
i dislike directphoto, it seems that they don't really entertain small buyers. even ex-employee also dislike them. some say they only entertain chinese clients/customers.

Hahaha... you guys were right... RM700 for a one. The difference is , A PW+2 can be used as transmitter or a receiver. That means if you have to buy two PW+2 which is = RM1400. Woah!

Unless you're really gonna fully utilize the PW, I wouldn't recommend you to get it. It's good but expensive, more suitable towards working profesional. U can settle for some china made remotes, I remember a friend telling me that u can get a set for around RM100 in digicolor but of course quality wise it's not as good as a PW but at the end of the day it still does it job.

Take note that the picture in that link shows the old Plus 1 version. Make sure you get the Plus 2 version if you do buy from them. I ordered my Plus 1 set from them a few years ago after I got pissed off with the optical and el cheapo china triggers. I got the transmitter + receiver set, RM1400. The damn things never drop in price!

But both units still working great today

You're welcome.. But be warned that the china remotes can be troubleome at times, and it's well known to trigger your flash for nothing hehe =P that's why my friend got the PW instead. But if you don't use it frequently I guess it's ok.

there are two alternative that I know of, one is gadget infinity but a look through the strobist group at flickr you'll see Canon speedlite user have problem with it, the flash will trigger randomly, so not recommended
second is Alienbees but I haven't really check this one out yet so dunno good or not
