February 29, 2008 - If you love to street race while blasting J-pop anime music, you're going to have to get yourself a PS3. The latest issue of Famitsu has a first look at Initial D Extreme Stage, a PS3 version of the Japanese racer that's known in arcades as Initial D Arcade Stage 4.

In addition to a visual update, the big new feature for the home is an online racing mode. Similar to the arcade version's "National Tournament" mode, players can rise in class by beating other racers and gain access to even tougher opponent classes.

The arcade version also let online players customize their characters. Sega hasn't announced this for the home version yet, but it sounds like a likely feature to us!

Solo drivers can look forward to an updated version of the arcade's single player mode, Koudou Saisoku Densetsu (this name translates to something along the lines of "Legend of the Fastest on the Road"). Over 20 rivals will appear in this story mode, which uses the PS3 for high quality shading.

Initial D hits Japan this Summer. An international release has yet to be announced.

initial d on the psp sucks big time

its quite fun, i'm able to go drifting in most of the corners with no prob on the psp

what is tha`matter with u candlejack...for me DjiNn done a good job for the gaming industry...why did he sell originals cause we all not supported piracy...because of the piracy , there is almost non of the consoles launched in malaysia itself....i mean official once.

u ask how many people bought original games? there`s a lot gamers around here bought ori , not only games but ori console`s too..here i want to congrats DjiNn cause he had what a wonderfull gameshop...i like it...feel like hari-hari wanna lepak at his shop...even my mum also like the shop.

i don't think so.i also got played gt5p but i still will play this game because i'm initial d super fan

2 diffrent thing la..... GT5 is real , true real.... lost the fun factor....

remember Virtual Fighter 5 for PS3? no online match, how lame!

don't expect they'll work extra hard on console release, they'll just move everything out from the arcade machine and release it on a BD, that's it.

GT5 is too reallistic and it may loose the fun. As for Initial D is totally different style of playing,is drifting type.
If you're playing the arcade stage 4 version ,you'll know how exciting it is. However,it's all depend on your preferences.

initial d games lacks the physics that GT5 has but if ur an arcade fan initial d is the game

not sure if extreme stage going to port over to 360 but for the news seem like is PS3 exclusive.

i play for fun only.not more than 5 times.just test.testing only with ae86 and s15.i don't always play arcade because to me it's waste money.my home game system can say better than arcade.no offence.

can we realli drift/drive like the cpu in the psp intial d street stage? i know we can drift using the eraser skill (shift down then shift up) but it doest look like drifting that the cpu drifting? anyone know how?

i only noe crashing d wall...hehe...normaly i press break then put off d oil then turn as narrow as can..then it drift ad...

yes,it does make a drift,but u ned a bigger angle to do it...wat mean by down shifting?

yes,i tried arcade version 4.brake if speed faster,turn steering into corner,throttle and countersteering.if the speed suitable for the corner, just turn steering into corner,throttle and countersteering.remember,throttle doesn't mean press all the way.depend on speed,angle and corner.that is call power over drift.the most easy way for drift
