Hello to everyone.

Any recommendations of cheap tripod for my Nikon Coolpix S200?

A simple one just to hold the camera still will do. Thanks.
mengsuan
For that, any cheap tripod sold in camera shops can be used. Usually the price ranges about RM40-70.
The brand is usually not well known.

For those who are planning to get cheapo tripod, just make sure that you don't leave your DSLR unattended. The tripods are not that strong and you don't want your DSLR to take nose dive. biggrin.gif

p/s: I've broken 4 cheapo 1.5m tripods sad.gif Ended up bought a better one.

But your friend's 50mm is so much sharper than my 50mm at f1.4 notworthy.gif

In fact, I guess your friend's 50mm is the only 50mm in the world that super sharp at f1.4 shocking.gif

Keep tripod are considered cheapo ones. It can easily wobble and break.

i am looking for a tripod also lol

btw tongyam got 1 for sales, waiting for appointment since he is not free in the afternoon

Just for those DSLR users who want a decent tripod for their usage, you can try Profoto EX tripod available at Direct Photo, Brunsfield Business Park off Jalan Cheras. It is available around RM180.

IF you are using normal cameras or prosumers, then a cheapie one should sufficient. But if you want good quality ones, then the above option is worth exploring.

While we're at this topic, any recommendations for cheapie table-top tripods? I'm thinking of getting 1 or 2 for handy use.. maybe to stand a flash unit or something.

Hmm.. usually they all look the same with different brandings printed on them. I think any camera shop should be able to offer one or two at low prices. But I doubt those are sturdy enough to hold a flash unit though. Definitely not those large SB800/580EX IIs...

I can attest to this statement - broke mine mounting a D40 + 18-200mm Sigma. vmad.gif

But, for compact digicams, it will be OK because those are *much* lighter than DSLRs.

Yup. Better to have a reliable platform than having one that will fail and drag your expensive gear with it. The Profoto EX looks like replicas of popular brands but it is very usable and sturdy. Especially acrobatic styles (I love to call it that way). Very flexible.

As far as I'm concerned, Profoto is a reliable brand, at least with their studio strobes.

Can I put manfrotto ballhead etc on Profoto tripod? If it's compatible with other tripod parts, RM180 sounds great to start with. tongue.gif

Cheapo tripods like Keep brand are retractable. Stable enough to hold compacts and prosumers. Price range goes from RM40 to RM70 depending on model and shop. Longer models can extend near to an asian's eye level. Made of aluminium.
