Hello. I tried searching the forums for answers but i can't seem to find any. Forgive me if this question has been answered in the past, in which case please at least vote without replying, thank you.

I need to suscribe to a wireless internet service because the room that i'm renting has no phone wired connection. cost and connectivity areas aside, which do you think is the better wireless internet provider? I need the connection mainly to play online games and download from torrent, so the no.1 priority is reliability. I live behind KL Plaza, smack dab in the heart of the city.

All replies and opinions would be well appreciated. Thank you.

Meaning that if you are staying at 11th floor condominium, izzy is your only choice.

1. Maxis - If you only situated @ ground floor - bound within 15/18 months contract
2. Izzi - Still can access even @ higher floor like 7-8th. Huge upfront payment and 12/13months contract
3. Celcom - Best to be use within KL area where there's HSDPA. No contract binded.

why celcom not listed? pp only know maxis where the service suck big time

I heard IZZI need line of sight. If blocking by buildings then signal weak.

If raining....will become like astro.

My house at 6th floor, and i even try at my friend's house which is at 11th floor. Its not really a matter which floor you are, the different between them are not significant.

There you goes, 1 vote for maxis rclxms.gif

for staying at the apartment below 5th or 4th floor, maxis is the best choice and make sure the area is covered by HSDPA

I used to live in Damansara Perdana, high floor. Maxis sucked there..not just data, voice too. Agian, it could be high floor or that I use phone as modem.

Now i am in Segambut. Terrace house. Maxis still sucks. Download can be anything from 100 to 300.kbps. Upload, 30 to 100...very unstable...sometimes I try all nite just to upload a 4MB image to some website..and sometimes takes just minutes..

Highly, highly unstable...

My vote is on Maxis Mobile Internet with unlimited data package (RM99 per month). No contract whatsoever icon_idea.gif , unlike Maxis broadband, must be Maxis subscriber though. Plus internet mobility in your hand!

Currently I'm using Nokia 6120 classic as modem. Connection speed is quite stable, averaging at 1 Mbps ~ 2 Mbps. The fastest was 2.4 Mbps rclxms.gif . Current location is Jalan Tropicana Selatan. The HSDPA coverage is so-so here.

Just got myself maxis, trying it out for a week first. living in 1st floor of a flat behind lot10. so far the speed sucks. getting like 100+kbps instead of the supposedly 3600kbps stated in the package. which means download speeds of 10+kBps.

will try the antenna aluminium foil boost method tomoro, but does anyone have any other suggestions for me? some info on celcom wireless would be appreciated too smile.gif

edit: very weird thing i noticed. downloading now at 10kbps, which sucks, but the weird thing is, i turned on mirc and i'm downloading 10kbps *simultaneous with the first 10kbps download*, effectively making my download speed 20kbps. also sometimes i get spikes of 20+kbps on both downloads (effectively 40+kbps). someone have an explanation for this?

btw i'm prob gonna kill my maxis line after 5 days. no way i'm gonna stick with this for 18 f*kin months lol. i'd rather pay telekom to fix a phone wire to my new house then use back my old streamyx line.

Wireless broadband in Malaysia is junk, PERIOD sweat.gif . If it's not junk, it's too expensive. For better or worse, your stuck with you-know-who whether you like it or not shakehead.gif .

Well that is unless you don't mind paying premium for wireless dial-up laugh.gif .

What about Celcom mobile broadband? All just giving comments on Maxis and Izzi only.

Added on March 7, 2008, 10:04 amBesides, what about the reliability of these three wireless connection provider? The cost of course? Sorry to ask this kinda question.
