i'm planning to collect money to buy a dslr.
any recommendation which dslr model should i buy??
i dont need those super high-end dslr with those super-duper long lenses.
just a dslr and a lense which captures nice photos and also at reasonable price.

any other dslr besides d40/x? coz alot of people recommend me d40/x but i see the functions aren't that good.

Urghhh tough choices. Sony features blow Canon away. But Canon's IQ alone coupled with noise reduction software (i.e noise ninja, noiseware) would swing the votes to its favor. It would be easier to put if the person emphasizes on taking pics rather then the IQ than Sony's the choice. Canon IQ is great but what turns me off is the quite painful viewfinder. If you want Canon go straight to 30D or 40D, my 2 cents icon_rolleyes.gif .

Both Sony and Canon mounts were great. Since more 3rd parties lens makers making A mount then price would be of no factor.

Your requirement seem simple. Why not prosumer? You'll get an all rounder lens that can do up to 300+mm reach.

prosumer?? care to enlighten abit... tongue.gif
havent really touch into much of the photography world since last time my dad's slr got broken ages ago... tongue.gif

See Canon S5IS for an example. Prosumer is quite like DSLR, except that its lens cannot be changed(only converter lens can be attached). Has the ability to take high quality video clips. You can also attach Speedlites(DSLR flash) on to prosumers like S5IS. The drawback is, it produces fairly noisy photos when you take photos at night without flash(high ISO).

prosumer : if you want something that's all-rounder right out of the box, comes with video ability BUT don't mind lesser picture quality and disadvantage at low-light condition.

also you can't change lens like DSLR, which is the strength of the DSLR.
tsubasa89
oh...i do mind the lesser quality though...but it depends on how much it can differs....
checked some just now....it seems the price doesnt differ dinamicly so...probly will get a dslr... tongue.gif
btw....question about A200.....around how much zoom you can push with the twin lens?
goldfries
AFAIK the A200 with twin kit covers up to 300mm with the SAL70300 or something. smile.gif *sorry la, this one need Alpha users come to correct*

edited : btw lens is 300mm la but then since it's a cropped sensor camera, the actual range is beyond 300mm.
soulfly
The A200 twin kit lens comes with
-SAL1870 .... 18-70mm f3.5-5.6
-SAL75300 ... 75-300mm f4.5-5.6

total zoom range is 18~300mm with missing 71~74mm tongue.gif
jcvstlys
would you suggest the twin lens or buying the kit lens then get another additional lens?

If you already have an idea for the other lens, then just buy kit lens and an additional lens of your choice (or lensessss).

If not, then the twin lens bundle is a good way to start.
Soony
Let me make a more reasonable budget for u =P

A200 single kit lens.. can get it around 1.75 k with the 18-70mm kit lens
then get a sigma 70-300mm apo macro.. have both telephoto and macro features =P for 0.7k
then get a minolta prime lens f1.7 50mm for around 0.5 k..

total is only 2.95k.. there you have it.. 3 lenses that suits in every condition..

Getting a memory card around 4gb 133x will cost you around RM 150 left right..

Then then , if you budget can exceed summore.. get a flash f42am or f36am for less than 1 k.. WOOOO.. perfect match =)
david890701
double kit lens A200 how much?
Soony
around RM 22xx
