Has anyone done comparisons on comparative quality of photos on the Nikon D80 and Canon 40D... or Nikon D40x and Canon 400D?

Hi Ihsan, both Nikon D80 and D40x are still using those older CCD based sensors, how to complete with CMOS sensor?

owh ic hehehe just wondering if there any other opinion.. coz my friend experiment her bulb shuttle using her D80 and d quality much better than me... i'm using my cousin 40D... i cant show the pict now coz my external hrdsk crash..

By the way my opinion is that 40D is on the same category as D300 although D300 has a few advantages over it. 400D should be compared with D80/D40/x. Actually both Canon and Nikon has different product segmentation so no one model equally competes with the other.

But when it comes to 40D vs D80, I still think the general perception applies here. CMOS has a few edge over CCD mainly because CMOS has better noise characteristics. Coming back to your question, I think you better compare both models by letting the same person who is knowledgeable in both models to handle two cameras. Could be user error?

Will be a good fight. But quality of picture already stated that the Canon is better than the Nikon. But the Nikon's noise control at higher ISO is better.

Give a good camera to a lousy Photographer, and he'll produce crap. Give a lousy camera to a good photographer, and he'll give you something!

Probably the D3x has to be something special to compete with the 1Ds MkIII.

Digital Camera Mag already stated that the 1Ds MKIII is unsurpassable in terms of Image Quality. But it comes at a huge PRICE.

Ya right... I wish I have the 1Ds mark III... No wonder my pictures always suck... because I do not have that 1Ds mark III...

Haha.... we all wish we could have 1Ds and D3 lar. But many people have stated that your pics are good. So you don't really have to have the BEST to get THE BEST out of the cam you already have right? Better than having THE BEST and not getting THE BEST out of it am I right?

I was invited to dinner by a professional photographer who happens to be a family friend. He did an exhibition from pictures taken with a CANON Powershot G5! Thats saying A LOT about his skill.....

Actually, would love to see some pics of lenses or accessories. Like tripods or lenses. Xandman, show us you 70-200 VR Grey color. Very rare one so I bet some here haven't seen it. Also your monopod and ball head...

there's no fix which vs which. in fact if you observe, some actually come in-between in terms of pricing and their features have it's pro and con.

u know, when i first came in here and open my gallery, there were not much comments coz most of the time i love to PP my pics extensively. but the trend is kindda subside nowadays, that with substantial amount of details that can be acquired by PP is much much respected.

so i guess, i give it a go at this right timeline for me to preview my photos here at LYN unlike before, where PP are much acknowledged as cheating.

so, whether u like it or not, PP skills must be given thought of by hook or by crook.

back to the topic. colors or whatnot are details that are easily achievable via PP. dont get fooled by adverts.
