Hi to all the sifus once again, i'm curious of the way how you guys communicate with your model, especially when it's a 1v1 photo shoot when you have better manipulation of the model.

I happen to have a friend who's keen in playing as a photo model for me, we have gone for outing twice . Most outdoor shots went very well except when we tried to shoot something more emotive or some artistic shots , i simply sucked at getting the model to potray the appropriate mood for me. I really hope to get some useful tips from all the sifus here. rclxm9.gif

since she's your gf, it's should be easier as you already not strangers.

next part is communication, as in your direction and her taking directions.

then of there's there's inspiration, buy some magazines (fashion mags also can) and you can see various poses to try out.

use body language if your voice direction doesnt work
do pose for them of the pose you wanted they to do
they can easily follow with no problem

Yea. I do those stuff. But it seems just not enough when it comes to theme that cross with darker feelings like frustration, desperation and fear.

that's where a model's experience comes in. smile.gif it's good learning ground for both of you though.

Watch a bit American Next Model (Tyra Banks), Blow Out (Jonathan Antin)... take note how they express/talk to the models... how the models pictures looks like, etc.

yeah. that too. not just ANTM la. there's quite a few others around on ASTRO if you're a subscriber.

expression would be harder.

not everyone can perform very well

some of them are no good in smiling

some of them cannot act cool

human is no 100% perfect

maybe should choose other models instead.

Heard that a good way to learn how to pose is to get a copy of whatever women/fashion magazine. Either the photog or the model will have to study a bit smile.gif

ebernie, i mentioned that in post #2 leh. smile.gif that's what i did.

in fact i didn't refer to it most of the time. i directed the girls instead. brows.gif

do note that fashion magazines help with getting inspiration on poses and stuff but expression is not something you can get out of a book.

that one need some practice.

i use my sense of humor to make a connection between us.
once, she gets comfortable. just talk like a regular person
would do. like me, im very crazy at times, so she dont mind
be crazy with me laugh.gif you gotta throw away that shyness within
you for a second. it worked for me. when posing i just instruct her
how to and she'll do it.
