4GB in S478 is really rare,this is the first time i see 4GB.But his rig is a bit wasted as it's just a torrent & downloading machine only. Nice mobo and proc for o/c.

oredi try to install latest driver from ati website ... download for windows xp professional/home and didn't work ... also ati tools by ray adams .. keep pop up sumkind address error when start windows ... i geuss stick with the old driver ...

.. guys, i'm trying to make partition for my Sata hdd ... should be at command prompt type fdisk rite? i've try but not working .. any clue?

gosh! it reached v6 already

just got my old s478 a final "upgrade" b4 the chinese new year. mobo changed to msi 865pe-p platinum; stock cooling changed to gigabyte g-power(reapply arctic cooling MX-2 thermal paste); 1.5G ram to 2G; chieftec 310w pure psu changed to silverstone st50f; cap ayam casing to CM690(4 X coolermaster sleeve bearing 12cm fans + 1 vantec double ball bearing 12cm fan); coolermaster CCFL X 2 & the rest remain the same as my xfire sig. but still, the temperature of the prescott aka "preshot" only manage to bring down 10C'+

whats wrong with your card??

for the partitioning, if not for windows, then try use computer management>disk management. or use partition magic.

if just want to install new windows on the sata hdd, then create the partition when installing windows.

OT:hows your 9550?? i recently got a gecube 9550 256mb for my socket A. the score seems a bit low i think.

3dmark01 = almost 9k(expecting near 10k)
3dmark03 = 3.3k+-(expecting near 4k)

currently running at 464/340. i checked already, it seems i have 2.5ns ddr2 hynix ram but it cant pass 350. i saw alot of 9550 user can easily push the core above 500 and ran above 700. hmm.....

Btw.. Sang's 96PRO ram only run at 200. Dont it think can been flash to XT thou. 100mhz pump is away too much.

But heck.. My previous old 98PRO was a gem.. No sweat from PRO spec flash to XT and able to push up until 800mhz memory & 500mhz for core.

Kabu,my 9550 is not really good also.I can set my card runs at 500/700 to run 3D mark 03 and i got nearly 4.4k. Then later try to run only get nearly 4k. Both proc and Gc is already overclock. My version is using DDR2 also.I do notice from other forum saying that this batch of 9550 with DDr2 can go above 500/700 but i can't go beyond that.

Benchmarking is benchmarking,my stupid ATI driver loves to jump back to default speed when i'm playing games.My screen will freeze awhile when it's setting back to the default speed.

ATI card not really stable and good in my opinion.

i think my rig bottlenecking the performance. axp2000+ stock with 512ram @ddr266. well.... just oc for fun.

@kabu,9600pro or XT is really nothing compare to those 6 series GC.Becareful if you want to flasg your card.Make sure the bios you use is corect.If you wnat 96Xt speed,just o/c it to 500/700.It's the same in performance.For ATI tools,don't use the auto detect for finding the max core and max mem. speed. The software is not accurate one.I guess your proc sure bottleneck a bit on your gc,but it's still acceptable.About my card cooling,it comes with a huge heatsink fan on the card same like those on 9600XT,but seems like useless.

Ic.. Hm.. Not really know about ATI stuff eventhough i had use it for past a year.

Btw, i never use software OC for my previous 9550 and 9800. I used to used soft modded by dump the original bios of the card then mod it and reflash it back again. Play safe without flashing in other card bios in.

@fylon,actually last time my brother mis-flash bios into his MSI 9550 and end up can't boot up. But somehow he used a PCI base card to boot up his pc,then log into Windows to re-flash the 9550.Then the 9550 was alive again.I also not sure how's the way he did it.My younger brother is indeed more superior than me. Hehe.

Just finished 3 C&C 3 NOD mission. Gosh.. Now then i feel the pain of gaming at high resolution. Currently run C&C at 1280*1024 full high resolution.

Feel the pain when whole bunch of army and car rush at a time. Need some powderful GC now..

@sang,I heard my brother said it's pretty safe and easy to do it.Before flashing any bios,make sure it's compatible or lese just softmod them.Softmod is the safest way.

@kabu,NF2 mobo.Once a legendary mobo with good o/c.Now quite hard to get the mobo even 2nd hand.

blind flash is a simple method of having a backup copy of the bios copy with an autoexec.bat that will autoflash with backup bios copy when your system boots. No need for PCI card.

btw, nf2 was previously reign supreme that topples the sales of i845 and i865 mobo. i love the nf2, especially the ones that comes with soundstorm. SWEET.

u do not need a more powerful card for cnc3. trust me, its the CPU bottleneck. tried running high details on an AMD A64, 2GB DDR400 and 7600GT AGP before. butter smooth with lots of AI units on screen.

Is now run cooler then my procs.

My cooler lacking of high cfm now..

Temp on idle @ 3.68'c around 41-43'c..

Currently the card already come back from warranty and i haven't had any time to claim it back. Probably this coming friday will go lowyat.

Also try change to a noisier fan such as the delta, LOL. Sure will decrease the temp.

@kahloon,your X1950pro really a great card.No need to o/c playing games at stock speed can feel the power already. By right now you are the king here in GC as your card is the strongest among all.

@edmin,that's for explaining the blind flash method.But my brother wasn't using this way to flash back the bios.

guys, i see tat u all love to OC your p4 rigs... too bad im on an intel board where the proc speed is locked...
there is one thing tat i can change though, the RAM timings...
i hav a pair of mixed KVR DDR333(hynix) and DDR400(kingston), wonder if i make them run at 2-3-2-6? is it safe to do so? will it burn my rams / mobo?

it wont burn if running at that timing, but i think it hardly run at that tight timing unless your ddr333 hynix ram is CL2 high performance ram. correct me if wrong.

Owh? Then ya DDR400 only run at DDR333. Abit waste.

Btw, make sure ur ram can cap the CL2. Normally VR are clocked to hold CL3 or CL2.5 thou. CL2 is kinda tight. If both of ur ram cannot take this timing after u set it, ur mobo wont get bootup. But fear not, just switch off everything and take off the bios battery to reset it.

at 51C is still acceptable but keep an eye on the temp. even though not too high but need attention. if got chance, grab a 3rd party hfs to tamp the temp down. i believe you will enjoy the cooler cpu temp and quieter experience.

@fylon,what i mean is after 3 years the value of 2nd 79GS become RM200 like that.

@Redundant,you may try the timing with 2.5-3-3-5. I bet your mobo and proc sure will be stalbe with this speed.But gain of performance is not significant.CL 2 on your RAM may cause BSOD as hynix don't prefer tight timing at higher frequency.

p/s: i bought the ddr400 coz it's cheaper than the ddr333 at tat time... and also becoz my i845 mobo only supports up to ddr333 =/

if no problem then everything is fine, but you can check the stability with orthos or memtest for the ram. if fail try loosen the timing.

cant expect much from a via kt266 mobo la.

nvidia already chop off the agp line for its new series. i dont think in the future they will produce agp card anymore.

i believe so. just assuming. cause now ati still come out with 3xxx series for agp, in future maybe no more agp. agp users still will be around i believe. some of my friend still using socketA and even PIII for normal office work. depends on what purpose la.
