I can pour acid all over my Canon 40d and say that it is acid-proof.

I'd believe it if you try it on your camera hellfire. wink.gif

This is nothing la... I had seen a couple of 1D mark II users shooting in heavy rain + washing thier camera far worst than that.

Even Canon EOS 40D also ok in heavy rain of about 20 minutes... with everything completely wet, far worst than the test shown here and all ok... tested.

So far those that fail the tests include Canon EOS 20D and all Nikon that I had seen. And yes the victims of failures do feel stupid after the tests. I guess thier pride and emotional impulses overwrite thier sense of logic at that time. They were just over confident due to misleading marking hype, with some brand claiming they have lots of weather seal materials here and there. Also please do not think D2x is really a tought camera. Dun be cheated by its looks, its price & class and so call 'feel'.

So far from my experinces and knowledge, only the Canon 1D series can tahan... But I do not know why the latest mark III series change to lition battery. The battery itsel will cause limitation already... Stupid Canon... shakehead.gif

Anyway, I yet to know the 'performance' from D300 and D3 users as I found those new Nikon consumer, who are also new to photography, taking care of thier gears too much. So now a bit hard to know... Maybe someone with D300 can show us the demo on the model shooting / outing? or maybe have to wait until thier gears are over 1 years old then they might try the tests? biggrin.gif

1d mark II can buy 3 e3 lo..tongue.gif

yeah one day should have TT and test on the camera..heheh if the owner allow la..

And I have no databases on cheaper camera such as Canon 300D, 350D, 400D, Nikon D40, D50, D70 etc... I guess because this group of people has budget constrait and cannot afford to loose thier camera just because of a stupid test.

So far the cheapest and dare to try are Canon 20D as well as Nikon D200.

<Deleted, It is wrong to simply share victim's story online that they hate to see... Sorry... sweat.gif >

I also remember Mac used to advisersed as smallest super computer in the world, which are baseless statements. And I can't believe so many people are buying this statements because they are so convinced of it being advertised on the large billboard.

Sometime I also feel like laughting when Proton technician in thier service center classify thier Iswara to Vois, Wira to Altis and Perdana to Camry. But I did not laught because they are really serious. I guess it is what they being taught in training classes. They just have no ideas on the differences... shakehead.gif

* Please let me know if I over-step the bondaries of posting some infomation online, which might hurt others who is already sad with dissapointment. I will delete whatever nessarry.
gogo2
Of course classify Iswara = Vios. Both are cheapest of their brand tongue.gif

Anyway, this thread reminds me of why I didn't buy K10D. Body is weather seal. But weather sealed lens going to cost a lot..

I just concern if the victim saw my post might really do bad damage ma...

It is indeed a unexpected very bad experince for him. It is important, and it is why he brought 2 unit of the camera there, but still kong... If I remember, the cameras were kong on the very early days... and no camera to continue shooting for the rests of the duration... Really bad... sad.gif

But I have to say these... One really have to know your camera limitation. And try not to over confident because of marketing hype. Marketing hype is just marketing hype cool2.gif

Pour water like that is a bit extreme la. If kena hujan a bit makes sense. If it's raining cats and dogs what the heck are you going to shoot ? XD I dunno if a Nikon would still work after pouring water like that, but at least D300 did make it to Antarctica. wink.gif

Hmmm, there's no doubt that the E3 has the best weather and dust proofing to date.

Hellfire: to stop fanboyism here, i'd suggest that you do your own mini test to prove it to them smile.gif

February issue of Practical Photography did the test on E3 too. Go check it out.

i dont understand u guys la...when we are showing some pros of certain camera makes u are claim it is fanboyism, false claim, marketing hype...

but ask yourself this question if the slr in youtube is a canon or nikon i wonder what the response will turn out to be...smile.gif

TheVoip do gives a lot of constructive feedback and experience to share but some of you guys are just pure fanboy who can;t get over the fact that some slr have it pro somewhere..such as weatherproofing..etc..

It is not a secret the the 4 year old E1 can survive the north pole and lot of harsh condition...

http://www.wintergreen.smugmug.com/gallery...355143#77355143

And please read the brochure properly 40d do not have full weather proofing on all the slr body part.,,eg battery compartment, flash, battery compartment, lens...

but e3 does..
Joseph Hahn
Well we all are fanboys of our own camera brand that we use. If you're not using E-3 yourself would you post this video here? tongue.gif Anyway, no doubt that E-3 is the best camera to work in harsh conditions. smile.gif

Ya... You are right...

Being fanboy is no good... These photography thread should focus back on photography...

Actually weather seal or not might has some edge at some time... at least the camera still functoning at important moment. But most of the time it is not important at all.

IMO, the most important is how to know the young and pretty gals and ask them for photoshoot... It is why I always respect Ahleong and shinchan for doing such fine jobs continuous. They are the true photographers that making good uses of thier gears.... notworthy.gif

There's reason behind this. If too many ppl, model will be afraid they might get gang-raped. Especially when there are many with hamsap faces. Like my friend he always shoot girls alone without bringing me, although we're close friends vmad.gif

400D, very light rain for half an hour is ok.... but better use better lense that has deep lense hood, or else the rain stain on lense also ruin the pictures. But most camera should be ok with light rain...

Normal rain level should not be able to tahan la....

better not risk it..there are a lot of place that need rubber seal to prevent water from damaging the slr..eg battery compartment, flash, lcd, memory card compartment, buttons

if the manufacturer did not mention about weatherseal and you survive it does not mean you can do it often..imagine the sensor kaput or some electronic stuff inside die..sure your manufacturer will not honor the warranty..unlike if your manufacturer did mention it is weatherseal, they still honor their warranty..

cheapest weather sealing ....clear plastic bag...cut a snug fitting hole on the plastic bag for the lens ... or plenty of cheap plastic cover accesory with a clear translucent part for the lens..

or with 40d and a wifi transmitter.. the camera can be completely sealed and you can be under the shade, drinking starbucks with a laptop controlling your shots..
