I want a no frills desktop calendar, which is free for life (not like active desktop calendar), but has the same functions as ADC. I tried yahoo widgets, too much stuff I don't need from that add on. I also need a memo pad. Also I don't want my desktop to be cluttered. I am running win xp.

you can try Samurize, a desktop modding software (freeware), and use the EventCalendar plugin to have a calendar pinned to your desktop. it's very customizable. i even made a "to do" double-clickable link on my desktop where i can type in notes and have it displayed over my wallpaper. here's mine:

get Samurize
here. download the following file and unzip it to the Samurize folder after installation. if ur pc is not using widescreen, u'll need to re-adjust the location of the calendar (the settings in it is from my pc, which is using widescreen). or search for EventCalendar plugin at samurize's website for the original file.

if u are asking about where to get the Samurize installation file, it's right in front of u when open the website. to make it even more obvious, click "Download Samurize v1.64.3 Final".
if u are asking where to get the original EventCalendar plugin, type EventCalendar under search and get the PluginPak. else u can download the file that i've attached in the post above. FYI, i'm not sure if the original EventCalendar plugin comes with the memo pad, as i've modified my plugin several times to suit my own usage.

no way

. i didn't write any program. i merely used the samurize editor to place some text box here and there and made a double-clickable box with text in it. it's all about experimenting and googling. when things get screwed up, just copy back the original plugin files and start all over again

Is there a way to transfer my schedule onto my usb drive? I tried installing portable does not work. I want to install the app on my USB drive, do work somewhere else, then save more appointments, and update my list. I registered for the Rainlender forums, but till now waiting for the confirmation email. Not in junk mail also. Not sure what happened.

I also recommend Samurize. I can simply add a section where it display text from a text file (use as 'To-Do'), then put an edit button so I can quick access my note.
