try avira.. at least works for me..
better define, the best antivirus as AV that can protect ur pc even u click on the brontok-like file
or else.. every av gonna be the same if u never take precaution to prevent

Avast! covers almost all the basic protection from web scanner, network scanner, email, p2p, instant messengers...
http://www.avast.comIf you need higher detection rate, choose Avira. But sometimes their update server response is slow.

My 1st choice is Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7 for sure, using KAV since version 6...
If something goes wrong, second choice BitDefender 2008 and lastly NOD 32

bitdefender good, but memory hogging apps, use it if u hav lots of memory not in use..
nod32 is good, less memory usage, small apps, but not very user friendly..u hav to explore it a bit to get used to it

kaspersky also good, but nod32 still the best coz of its small apps

best detection + resources hogging -> G DATA Antiviruskit
excellent detection + resources hogging (not as much as AVK) -> KAV
---
excellent detection(w/ false positives) + resources efficient -> avira antivir
good detection + resources efficient (slightly higher usage compared to Antivir) -> Eset Nod32
