From what I can understand, this game is somewhat like a graphic novel game, with the storyline seems quite different from each objective.
You will play from the perspective of Kyon, and your role is to give instructions to the rest of the SOS Brigade members (Haruhi, Mikuru, Nagato and Itsuki), all but for one task - to satisfy the desire of Haruhi herself And her desire for this game right now (I think) is to create video games. Each of the SOS Brigade members are on different timetable and by interacting with each one of them will activate some fun events.
Practically, in the name of satisfying her hunger to make videogames, in this game you are able to create Haruhism clone-like game of Dragon Quest, Super Robot Taisen, Princess Makers, etc. I've read that some players had counted that they found there are 8 different games in all (not counting mini-games). So henceforth, each of the SOS members get to be in command in one of the games, and you as Kyon, get to play/create them for the sake of humanity

iinm, there's haruhi game on psp released not long ago(i think december 07).. i wonder the storyline is same with this PS2 version?
