This is the dilemma with partitioning software like Partition Magic. If you backed up your data in C and D, might as well nuke the whole hard disc drive and repartition it back to the configuration that you want. If I was you, I will just ghost both C and D with software like Acronis True Image, repartition the hard disk and then restore the ghost image.

Acronis Disk Director Suite support vista. Pretty good as Norton (errr PowerQuest) partition magic.

I prefer ADDS now. PM outdated already tongue.gif

So, if i use software like Norton Ghost or those that you mentioned, then it could be necessary to do it without doing any backup first?

What I say is that if you are able to backup the whole C and D partitions, it is faster to use software like Acronis True Image to do backup, then use utilities like fdisk to repartition your C and D partitions, and then restore the data again with Acronis True Image.

ADD = Partition Magic
Acronis DiskImage = GHost

Best to have both kind of software, total control of our hdd.

xp = partition manager 8.0
vista = partition manager 9

The data won't get deleted, if you have 20gb of space,
back up is just a precaution
