Full Version: How to move windows XP to another drive?

A couple of weeks ago, I just reinstalled a fresh copy of windows XP with all the necessary programs and updates, only to realize that I need one of my HDD (where the fresh copy is installed) for my multimedia PC. I have 2 HDD.

Is there any way (short of a reinstall or buying a new HDD!!), to move windows XP to another drive?

I'm dual-booting into my old windows at the moment and planning to use the new fresh copy and delete the old one.....

Thx.

It's my current one. 2 HDD. I want to move it to the other HDD on the same rig.....

Errmmm..... would that work? I mean, if I use norton ghost, it will copy everything as a whole. However, the windows' parameters are still the same...... meaning that if the original windows was in E drive, all the registers will point to E drive. If I moved it to C drive, then windows won't be able to find the folders!!

So, basically, does windows provide any move function to move itself? sweat.gif

Note : I probably have to reinstall but will take hours as I have to install all the drivers and programs, including updating all the data e.g. antivirus, anti-spyware, etc..... just thought I ask before I do that.... smile.gif
