Not bad on the pics, but all were taken during daylight. Any link to pictures taken during night time?

Any suggestion on where to check the price and availability of an ori set?

Thanks.

Guys, is there any way to prevent the sent sms from entering the sent folder? Mafan have to delete it all the time sad.gif.

Also, is there a symbian app that can manage your smses instead of the stock function?

The SE G900 does not have GPS, not even the P1i and W960i. I don't remember any of its UIQ-based phones have GPS feature built-in. The Google Map for Symbian is available for download free of charge. Now this is a native symbian application which is great and stable. The default application supports GSM triangulation in the form of approximate location feature. It'll roughly tell you where is your current position. If you need detail information, no doubt a GPS is required.

You can get an external GPS bluetooth receiver for around RM250~ and install your choice of navigational software. I've did this and it works great.

Well if you have been checking the sales thread, I am getting rid of my phones hahahaha! Well, actually I like the G900 a lot but I got the red one which doesn't suit me. The APs don't seem to have black the last time I checked. Now I am checking for good deals for HTC Diamond. Will still get a G900 in the short future, probably for my wife. She wants it black too.

Before I got accused of changing phones as often as I change underwear tongue.gif, I usually get an ultra-high-end phone every 2 years. Thats just me though. Just too bad we don't have mobile plans like in Singapore. I remember Maxis and Celcom have one of these offers 5-8 years ago. But its a double rip off because you pay for the plan and still pay a hefty sum on the phones which is supposed to be heavily subsidized. End up only cheaper by a few hundred dollars. Now APs are quite reliable, so might as well get those and not bounded by contracts. Then again, Singapore's call rates are more expensive than in Malaysia. nod.gif

G900 only support B. no G, as per printed on the box itself.

the same goes to P1i.. only B. get a G-wireless router and try to hook on urself to believe it. I still don't know why ppl still think it supports G.

perhaps a sony ericsson dev's site would give some tech. specs in a little detailed?

So you tried using a router broadcasting only G band? Erm... perhaps something miss out with the website and the box itself. Normally, you sure check the white paper of the phone, since it shows the most detailed information of the phone. Anyone can clarify?

here's the screenshot of G900 whitepaper comparing the spec of G900 and P1i,

Here's the whitepaper, (I'm not sure it's legal to distribute, if cannot pls tell me ^^)

ori G900 is RM1.5k++ (with free bluetooth headset)

while AP G900 is around RM1.4k++

definitely more worthy to go for ori, imo.

You can start with uiq.com, there are a few standard themes which is quite eye-catching, particularly the Red Chillies theme which is actually a smoke art photography.

The sound quality at maximum volume is way better than the K850, even at mid level you can hear the quality of the speaker, nice bass and treble.
Sounds like those quality material they use for the speaker this time

Is it bro? from what i encounter my gf's phone she just stored all the previous contacts into the sim and then put it into the G900, can read all the contacts.

1) Ok try this bro. Go to Main Menu, Contacts.
2) Open Contacts and click on More.
3) Then select view folder.
4) Go to Sim and your contacts from sim will appear.
5) Now select More and copy to contacts, then your sim card contacts will be copied to the phone.

Give it a try bro. Hope it helps

If your contacts in sim still dont appear, meaning previously your stored contacts was using the phone memory. Put back the sim card in your old phone and have them copied to the sim. Then it should appear when you access it using the G900

Yes agreed. Thats why it has a large speaker diaphragm which helps a lot. Also the THD is quite low which results in more natural sound. So far the only stereo setups I like is N95/8GB. Very clear.

yeap... G900 speaker is rather good. even when i try Madonna's 4 minute its still reasonably OK for a speaker phone.

Finally found some time to install the software. I have the same problem with my previous W850 when installing the PC Suite, somehow my connected phone is not detected. I have the same prob again last nite. realli fuming ler... oni after i un-installa nd re-install the PC Suite i manage to get both file transfer and phone mode to work.

A word of advise... if you plan to update your phone software for the first time, find time like 2hr to spend. Downloading that update service software will take some time.... then install and downloading update will take sometime again. not forgeting b4 u update backup and this also take a while.

The update procedure is rather tricky and need some patience. at time instruction ask u to remove batt la, press "C" button and u sit and wonder why no progress.... thing will take some time to come back alive...!!! oso when doin backup... for a while there is like nothign happeing during the phone reset...!!! so be patience...

after sitting thru like 2hr... my update finally tell me "there is no update. your phone is using the latest software". well, i take it a learning how to use G900 lesson...

Yeah thats a total nut job from Sony Ericsson's part. It works fine on some PCs and not with the other. It won't detect. Until I found out the item in device manager named G900. Right click it and then you should see that it is disabled. Enabling it, will trigger the appropriate detection. However, it doesn't always work that way on other PCs. So yeah, I am fuming too.

It should work out of the box, not like I had to such and such of a procedure in order to get it to work. Not only G900 got this problem, even other models too. Windows would detect the phone's GSM modem, not the PC connection. Thats why a lot of SE users have migrated to SEPhoneExplorer which is an excellent piece of software. However, it doesn't support UIQ phones yet at the moment.

It depends on how you will be using it for. If you want convenience just for the sake of communication, then a bluetooth serves the purpose well not to mention the style it provides. If you want good sound quality as well as using the radio function, you'll need a good wired stereo headset. I would choose SE's finest wired earphones costing around RM300 complete with remote commander.
demio121
you try the wireless stereo bluetooth before? how's the quality. I was using W850i and the default earpiece is good enough for me. Radio is not too important to me.

I just don't want to buy a wireless then regret about the sound quality. These wireless thing, most shop don't allow testing, unlike the phone. All wrap in boxes nicely.

Yeah, I tried the bundled HBH-PV708 bluetooth headset. Sound quality is not remarkable. Usable only. I guess you need to buy higher end models to have good voice quality. Even the music playback is worse. No amplification and the playback sound muted. The W850's default earpiece is good because it is a in-ear configuration. But it is too boomy.

You can always try your friend's one before buying. Oooh! I remember, Cliptech (I think this is the name) is popular for bluetooth handsfree but utilizing earpiece. It consist of a bluetooth transceiver main body with the mic integrated. Then it provides a 3.5mm earphone jack for connecting to the earpiece of one that you prefer. That way you can have both wireless freedom and not sacrifice on music quality.

If you want good imaging, then G900 is not good enough. It is decent in my opinion. But the color rendering is not accurate enough unless you practice post-processing using PC software. The C905 would be highly anticipated in my opinion.

those are not touch sensitive buttons, unlike the k850i. the g900 has a touch screen. although the screen is rather small for a touch screen, but believe me, it doesnt hinder usability most of the time. although some icons might appear to be small, but trust me, you will have no prob 'touchin' them XD.

The touch screen sensitivity is good enough. Not too sensitive and still responsive. I like screen very much. It is a transflective display so legibility in the sun is still good without loosing too much color contrast. If you diligently study the screen surface, you'll see that it has an angled ribs all over it. That is to protect the screen. As a result, the screen is not like those PDA phones soft type. Its hard and feels like glass.

As a result, it'll respond to touches from the stylus, finger nails and fingers.

i'd tried the method in P1i's thread. Cudnt work...
