well, 1GB is selling cheap now

how do you think ?
LittleCow
the original i saw is Black colour from THorus(at Subang)...with 1gb card but no BT ....but i have also seen a red G900 AP set at IOI Mall selling Rm16xx with no free memory card...but come with a free blue tooth...

I am wondering what is the original package come with ? why differ ?

Do u think I should get the ori (only RM1700) or the AP set.... ??? hmm.gif

can use the touch screen to focus on our object... rclxms.gif

what's the price for this phone? AP and ORI
*

The price is around RM13xx to 14xx for AP. Price of original unit is still unknown. However, the original unit is expected to be launched on the 1st of July 2008. It may however affect AP price.

QUOTE(aQaNc3R @ Jun 29 2008, 04:27 PM)
well, G900 seems a lot hotter than G700 does...

As can i see, it is almost about G900...LOL laugh.gif
*

Well G900 has more interesting features especially the UI and the WIFI. The most important advantage is that G900 is only a few hundred dollars more expensive than G700 which makes it rather worth an upgrade.

RM1700? Is this AP or Original unit price? If it is original unit price, then it is worth looking. AP price is only RM13xx to 14xx. Take note that the SE Bluetooth headset HBH-PV708 is included as standard accessory. Please insist on getting the full set. I already saw people selling full package at RM13xx. 1GB M2 card is not really expensive nowadays. In fact, 2GB M2 card only costs around RM60 in Low Yat. Add another RM40, you get a 4GB M2 card already which is very worth it.

I foresee the G900 as an ideal device for installing programs, games, music and video. So 2GB (despite being the standard nowadays) isn't really cutting it already.

Anyway as for programs and games, all UIQ (and some S60) applications and games can be installed. All previous SE UIQ devices like P1i, M600, W960, W950, etc games can be installed. Besides you also have a large collection of JAVA J2ME games and applications available. I am already playing 'photohunt' on my G900! Hahahaha! Very arcade like.

If the price is accurate, then it will strengthened AP's price. RM13xx-14xx will give it a good advantage and maybe prompts sellers to not drop price any further. I think a good RM300-400 will be an encouragement for prospective buyers to choose AP over original. Lets wait for more reports on the official price.

The N82 is also a good imaging phone. But I don't fancy the candybar design which tries to be N81-ish but without the slider.

Yeah yeah! Its called Crazy Spot. Another game would be Hexxagon Labs. Which is something like checkers where you tries to conquer as much space as possible. It is also like the games we used to play during secondary school using Mathematics sheets.

Yeah, better get the BT since M2 card is quite reasonable in price. However if you have a bluetooth headset already, then you can consider topping a little to upgrade that 1GB to 2/4GB M2 card. These days sellers are very flexible and tries to accommodate different requirements of customers.

I have had good experience with COMSAT before. They have 1 year warranty on the LCD screen too. Handset is more than one year and 3-6 months for other accessories. I have heard good things about CSL too but I am not sure if they do carry this model.

Yes, thats correct. Safer that way. Anyway before purchasing, check and double check all the features are working properly especially the LCD screen for any dead spots, keypads, and the touch screen. Open up the notes program (the first button on the top left). Use the stylus and draw around the whole screen to check the touchscreen. This is to check for dead strips of touchscreens.

Guys, is there any diff if I buy normal m2 card and ultra m2 card for G900. Will it be any performance boost?
demio121
I am in SG now and tried this phone earlier. its SGD688 here. original and without any contract. translate to about RM1670 (give or take the xchange rate diff).

There is a slight delay in respond but i think its much better than the Samsung Omnia i tested also. The rest of the phone look pretty much like the old SE menu. I am gonna be here for a while so i'll wait for the price to go down further before committing. The G900 have gone from $768 when i arrive a month ago to $688 now.

The one thing i wish its better is the UI graphic. It's not as "groovy" as iPhone or the Samsung F480 but i think this might change with theme (well at least that i how the SE menu works...!!!). BTW this one is not HSDPA?

Both the usual M2 and Ultra M2 will work for G900. However, the speed/performance boost is as much as what is supported on the G900's internal memory card controller. So far the speed for the usual M2 is quite fast on the G900. I would commit for capacity rather than speed for now. Anyway if you're the type that likes to swap M2 cards around and use an external card reader for read/write large files, then an Ultra M2 would be nice.

Well Symbian OS executes a program faster than WM actually. Maybe because each Symbian OS (be it S60/UIQ/etc) is tailored to a specific phone architecture. WM however caters to a wide audience. Don't get me wrong, the OS is tailored and optimized for a phone too. But the applications by 3rd parties however are hard to control. Maybe that could take anywhere between 1 to a few seconds for application launching. But I have to agree that WM's OS is more complex and demanding due to its resource requirement.

Actually the UIQ interface has been the same for many generations now. It has been touched up and optimized for G900 especially with the addition of panels, smoother transitions, better thumb/finger operation, a nice camera interface and inclusion of Media Center. However, much of the other interface remains the same or somewhat simplified. I don't think the themes could do any change because currently, G900 do not support Flash lite on its wallpaper/home screen. So Flash UI remains the impossible at the moment.

everytime i read ur post, sure u will say all about the Xperia X1, so obses ?? hmm.gif sweat.gif
mind to remind u, x1 beat HTC or not, its nothing to loose 4 HTC, coz X1 it is a HTC products, SE only give the software touch only...nway, so far for WinMO, TouchFlo3D one of the best...
davidmak
Actually I wonder whether you guys have seen the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1's user interface on youtube. So far we only saw the panel interface. If you would look carefully, the transitions are still pretty laggy. Apart from that, its back to the old old WM boring interface.

HTC Diamond and Samsung Omnia so far earns the effort for hiding most of the WM's interface with their own UI. So I won't say X1 is the best now. It is still unannounced and that means its still in development stage. Anything can change now. SE already canceled a few models so... there's no tell it might cancel more models. But so far, if X1's video preview is of any indication the UI isn't better than the available choices now in the market.

x1 specs is good n beat the touch pro in certain aspect but for the UI/interface, SE is kinda new n like kids in WinMO development, HTC likes the old wise geezer...either X1 can match HTC touchflo3D or not, we hv to wait until proper review on retail unit, b4 that time, its pointless to say X1 hv better UI...got it kiddy?

Actually the interface response and speed has much to improve and I foresee software updates to further optimize it. But for an UIQ interface, it is the fastest I have seen or used. The G900 will be good enough as of right now. If you have been using Symbian OS phones before, they're more or less the same. They don't have fancy transitions, S60 OS don't even have transitions. Only UIQ has it but very basic ones. I long for the day Symbian OS both S60 and UIQ can support Flash UI. It'll change everything. Just like it is changing WM which used to be a boring home screen and now to an advanced fancy UI.

Thanks for your input, I'll probably go to the SE showroom to test one myself. I've tried playing around with my friend's W960i, so far so good, just a little laggy once in a while, I will say it's minimal. If G900 is a bigger improvement, I'll consider this model even the screen is slightly smaller and besides that, 8GB M2 ain't that expensive nowadays compared to the first time I bought a 2GB M2 last time. sweat.gif

G900 runs Symbian ler fren... Symbian v9.1 with UIQ 3.0

best is you go try it yourself. Feel the touchscreen, look at the menu... start d mp3 player and then start moving around the menu to see if there is any performance issue. i will tell you that Win Mobile is slow but a WM user will tell you otherwise...!!! its very much up to the user.
amdx
switching from p910i, m600i, p1i and G900.

i would say... p1i has the zappy speed. G900 is too early to tell as the firmware is still new, i believe once the updated firmware released.. it would be as snappy as p1i.

i duno, i felt g900 a bit laggy... especially on the touch response. UI transition is fine.. just the touch response a bit lag.

just my two cents. anyway.. i've sold my g900 for e71 smile.gif still kenot forgo the QWERTY after e61, e61i and now e71. brilliant!

sorry ak.. no offence at all. me oso SE fans smile.gif

i have gone thru a few online review sites, including some of the photos taken by the G900 in this thread.

looks like the 5 megapixels camera is a let-down doh.gif

the best thing i like about the G900 is the Notes feature. very cute.

g900, i got it when the AP set reached our shore.. and i sold it via lyn garage sale as well to a happy student. in case u missed out my post in this thread HERE, and my sales post HERE smile.gif

i'm a mobile gadget freak.. i change phone quite often.. p910i last me 1 yr.. m600i last me 9 months... p1i last me about 1 month. e61 last me 5 months, e61i lasted me 9 months.. i bought phone for my personal need.. brand does not really matter as long as it suit my needs. i admire SE for upkeeping its symbian UIQ.. I also admire nokia for upkeeping its S60 platform.. both hv pro and con beneath. as long as i found it has something i needed.. then i just switch.

life's short afterall.. smile.gif

panasonic88,

i think this little e71 will last me for months. getting old d... honestly, not much phones really impress me nowadays. smile.gif
but to be franked, since this is G900 thread... i would say... G900 is the best buck to get phone.. if you want touch screen UIQ3. **as if you don't mind the WLAN B -only-**

the only drawback.. i found in G900.. is the slight lag on touch response, and some of the great features hv been stripped down, especially the great Task Manager found in M600i and P1i has been replaced by a simple version. you can't close all apps with one single tap on the screen. maybe SE intends to offer UI simplicity to its consumers.. but for existing m600i/p1i users might find it abit lacking.. especially on those great operating features smile.gif

just my 2 cents though.

i remember i got my p910i at rm2k+ previously... apa pun tadak. no EDGE.. no WIFI... VGA camera. heh.. this one.. bundled with bluetooth headset.. wifi... great speaker.. finger navigation... apa mao?
demio121
the SE i hold on my hand now last me 4 years...!!! My other phone is my wife's spare. i am that cheap.

now aiming for the G900. Its SGD688 i found here with standard blah blah blah + 1GB + a base model bluetooth handfree. Its was $768 when i arrive here a month ago. so i'll wait a couple of month before i buy.

forum @ Hardwarezone.com.sg hv some pretty lively dicsussion about G900.

correctly if i'm mistaken. But G900 supports wifi B and G. ^^
amdx
G900 only support B. no G, as per printed on the box itself.

the same goes to P1i.. only B. get a G-wireless router and try to hook on urself to believe it. I still don't know why ppl still think it supports G.

perhaps a sony ericsson dev's site would give some tech. specs in a little detailed?
