nice one.

so SE is going into the eye-candy interface now competing the iphone, samsung f490, lg viewty.

not a bad design, first to run WM, like as rumored.

and the interface seems as nice as iphone's, with the WM platform, it is close to vista-like.

more in here too: http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/m...=en,en&cc=GB,US

SE do not use 3.5mm but fast port.

yes 65k is a truly let down for such a huge screen and for nice interface.

well i had enough of using one port for all.. really cant compromise when it comes to music.. the converter tends to get loose after a short period and that's when my W phone stops becoming a Walkman.. sad.gif

WM devices supports 65k colors screen only, that's why.

Oh, it has a micro-USB slot as well. Not too sure about 3.5mm though.

finally!

not a bad move from SE this time. good design and with most of all connectivity, its another one stop solution. Being an SE + WM Pda phone, what i hope is that SE would implement its own imaging software instead of using HTC styled. I keep my finger crossed.

besides, whats wrong with 65k anyway? giving you a 262k or 16m screen for a pda phone, expect less than 24hrs of usage....
StratOS
now all pda also 65k colour ma.. why complaint..

Still very new, until second half of 2008.

One thing to be sure, 2008 is Sony Ericsson's Year. rclxm9.gif icon_idea.gif rclxm9.gif

(X1, G900, G700, K820, C902, C702, W980, Z770 & etc....)
Seaedge
whether is it SE year, i am not sure. But if SE keeps holding back its release and launches for its phone, i am sure it will not be another good year for SE.
Kameshikarin
Finally, a widescreen GSM phone from SE.

and the reason why its 65k colors is because all Windows Mobile OS supports up to 65k colors.

enCORe
finally, after fade from Clie palm series, now on Windows Mobile!

One of the best things of the WM6 platform is that you get to get much more programs instead of just the standard ones.

There are so many better media players instead of WMP for the WM6 platform, but their names escape me right now.

I CAN however recommend the new Opera 9.5 or Skyfire browser, which performs way way way waaaay better then the included IE Mobile.

So external applications should be better.

dats cuz of windows mobile 6 os only supports up to 65k colours. But it shouldnt make much diff to our eyes unless if u compare it side by side with other phones.
Metallica23
Oh yeah, so we should be waiting for the upgrade in WM6 then? Is it likely?

this xperia like pda phone..so compare it to others pda is not much diff...most pda oni 65k colors
dxreaper
I hear a lot of comments about the screen only being 65k.

First of all, rest assure, the fact that it is 800x480 in a space of 3", the pixels will be very highly defined. 65k is the limit for WM as many has pointed out.

With that in mind, because of the highly defined resolution, the usage of 'dithering' to mimic other colours for the human eyes is more effective.

I was actually shocked when I found out that WM is only limited to 65k as I have been using the Dopod 900 (3.6" 640x480 res) for so long and never realised that at all! (The sharpness catches me more than anything else!)

I am sure even if you were to put it next to a N96 which boasts so much more colours, you will be more awed by the sharpness of the X1.

There is a 3.5mm jack at the top of the phone. Remember, the basic hardware is provided by HTC/Dopod, so things like micro-SD support and 3.5mm etc are expected.

Looks really yummy =)

wanted to get a WM phone since long ago, and SE come out with this... good news for me XD
fx_53_xt
i'm amazed from the fact that SE adapt to WM at the same time disappointed reading from engadget that this model is actually an ODM product from HTC

Not too sure about that. As far as I know, HTC is only helping by giving Sony Ericsson the hardware they need and Sony Ericsson is making the softwares and all that. If HTC was really making the phone, they should've put their brand name on it, don't you think?
