Dammit. This is the third day running Steam "freezes" at "Connecting Steam account:..." during Steam's startup. I suspect Failmyx is responsible for this; on two occasions I had to restart the modem several times until I receive a marginally better IP.

Is it just me?

wanna know whats REALLY funny? i left the page to load, and went into a game, only to alt tab out and see that picture of your steam crashing as well as my wireless being down. i then clicked over and over again on that picture of yours trying to close my steam and view the forums, til i gave up and end tasked it using task manager. only to learn that it was a picture

I play on GameArena server sometimes, mainly the Jump server and the duel_duel2 server. If you're unlucky, you'll get kicked though, 'cause they actually only allow Aus/NZ players.

But the update was put to a halt and people are leaving. Many servers are switching to L4D.

ah tf2 kind da stall here in malaysia but wat to do... huhuhuu im also eyeing for COD-WAR huhuhuhuhuhu.......

Updates will continue next year. Well TBH, we have tons of servers available for TF2. I've never ever seen all SG+MY servers being used up at any given time. Not to mention the various low ping Aus servers.

damn now i keep facing this problem, this morning i just formatted my com, after that i trying to reinstall back my tf2 using the backup,when the backup finish, i cant enter the game and keep stuck in "updating", but the freaking bar is full and 100%. After 99999 times of delete local content and install back, now the restore process stuck at full bar and not moving....
anyone can help me? i tried uninstall steam and dl fresh new from the website, still facing the same problem

i dunno parrot, my only suggestion for your problem would be to let it load in its time. sometimes steam mucks up and ends up taking forever just to load itself. its annoying, its crap, but sadly not much we can do about it. give it around 1/2 hour to an hour on a day that you aren't planning to play or something, and if it loads, it should be fine after that. if it doesnt, then i'm at quite a loss, cause normally once it loads at least one time, it should be okay after that. you could also try running a defrag or scandisk, probably one of those 3rd party ones like Diskeeper.

Anyway bout the login issue, probably you need to seek assistance on Steam Community. If login takes forever most probably some dudes at home are downloading through BT, well at least for me.

As much as failmyx sucks, I guess Steam has its share of blame. Never came out of its problematic state since it first launched

i had the same problem like you... keep deleting the clientregistry.blob then update... stucked a lot during updates, damn failmyx... restart update again, stucked again, delete clientregistry.blob again...
repeat repeat and repeat again till its finally working now...
