Hi Scavenger,
I think if you had been following this thread, you will notice that nothing comes close to Sony S400 models in term of quality and stuffs...because its just below all other good ones like Sharp A53 and Panasonic LX80.
Only thing the Sony S400 series are close to the rest is the price
QUOTE(Scavengers @ Aug 27 2008, 12:20 PM)

Hope u guys can help me... which is better? in terms of quality & performance.
Samsung LA32A550 (vs) Sharp LC32A53M (vs) Sony 32V400A
-does Samsung's Full HD reliable?
-how serius is Samsung's pixel problem?
-is Sharp's 100hz important?
-is contrast ratio important? Sharp has the lowest 7500:1
hope can get some tips here... so far price doesn't matter (as long belowRM3500)... thanks
LG 32 30series better then this 3 model in term of ghosting and game mode believe me. I spent almost 4 hour at Senq Karamunsing testing all the model that Senq have for 32 inch lcd Samsung win in cinema mode. Sony actually use samsung panel in S series and V series use benq panel. Don believe open sony case and see inside.

I bought this KLV32S400A, RM 2350 at Sen Heng, design looks nice, but when playing fast game like CoD4 and Forza 2 the ghosting is just terrible, I feel like wanna puke. Games like GTA4, Ace combat or PGR4 is fine though.
I guess I'm too used with my Samsung 22" 2ms monitor.
If you went to Sony website, it doesn't say how fast the response time for this TV, I wonder how fast you need to play game with minimal ghosting effect?

Under 6ms GTG. But really, don't compare it with a 2ms GTG monitor.

Hi,
That's quite a long list there. Okay, will PM you the price. Pana Full HD indeed cost a bomb at near to RM7.6K.
Ok, pls come down to my shop as well as my 'kandang kambing' to watch my 92" screen. Even Kiam's HM is impressed by it.

Another one would be rx330's HM. That's the power of HD projector, which is the sole display panel that gives you cinematic experience in your home without busting your bank account.

I believe in specs, for example the Phillips 32" LCD has a nice design with 33k contrast ratio, but with 8.5ms, that's not good enough for games with high FPS

Its actually true when we say we believe in our eyes. Try looking at the setup menu in the LCD TV, and bring ur desired Blu Ray or HD content to be viewed. Better yet, bring your own seperate PS3 if you have one and then try it out.
Then you will believe why it should be about believing your eyes.

@Mr. Ez, woah, if there was a girl reading this thread, you'd be in hot water already.

What you explained is correct too. So, either way, try to get both qualities in tact. The hard part is when you know the more quality a TV offers, the less cheaper it gets.

I'm afraid not, what you buy is actually packaging and marketing. Sony has completely cut off their TV R&D about 3 years ago. Panels are bought from Samsung or Benq, while Bravia engine is 100% outsourced for tuning. You are paying the extra for the Sony "stamp" and marketing. Not to say they are terrible, but I, as a consumer, wouldn't agree with their business strategy.
when i was shopping for my HDTV, i didn't even think of Sony. I thought of Sharp first and I am glad I purchased a Sharp HDTV which IMO looks better then Sony.

Indeed. Sony's BRAVIA is relatively good, but at a price you are paying for one you can easily get a better TV from LG, Sharp or even Toshiba at the same price point.
I'm not all for Philips Cineos though.... so damn sleek and sexy!

Update, Toshiba's newer batch of LCD TVs isn't what they used to be. I can't really tell whether it's the panel or the Regza, but something just doesn't go right. It just happen to local models (or may be even some other SE Asian country as well, but not Singapore). Pay extra attention when buying one, make sure you are satisfied with its quality rather than the brand before paying.

From my minimal testing, I find the contrast not as good, and the textures on display isn't as smooth (or should I say too smooth I can't really see the pixels). That's just from watching Blu Ray & DVDs, can't confirm what's the difference from gaming. I didn't really care to test out any TVs lately until my friend (an A/V shop owner) invited me to test them out.

Hi, I have a question, not sure if this is the right place to post.
Basically when I hook up my pc with VGA cable D-sub to my LG scarlet on full hd, it work fine. Problem start when i hook up HDMI, the picture quality drop drastically. Even if i do a pixel to pixel (just scan in LG), it's still look very bad. It seem like certain detail or color is missing and it's not sharp at all.
I tried my notebook it has the same result. The HDMI cable is working fine i suppose, cause when i hook up with my monitor, it seem normal.
Could it be a defect?

It's a 42LG60FR. I tried taking picture, it the photo couldn't tell the different. I suspect it's a color depth issue. The HDMI output seem like a 16 bit color.. I just swap another HDMI cable, the result is the same. The chances of me getting a defect LCD screen it's quite possible. Really tough luck, i dun really feel like sending it for repair right after the 3rd day of my purchase.

Did try the DVD with hdmi output. But since the resolution is so bad, i cant really tell the different.
I'm quite sure it has something to do with color depth. It's output 16bit or below.
I actually went to another shop to test the same model, guess what, it has the same result! Really need some help, i've been browsing around, dun seem to find any solution.
Possible problem:
1. LG HDMI 1.3 deep color got problem(very unlikely).
2. Both of my PC and notebook could not output HDMI signal correctly.
Anyone has the same experience?
