IMO 32" is small for a TV...
40", 42", 46" is better for TV watching, especially bluray

32" is equivalent to watching a 25" on a 4:3, it isn't small, but you need to sit close enough

Using 32" to watch bluray is small, especially those wide screenies with upper and lower blank.
1080p crumbles in small space...
40" is good for that.

One noob question guys. Does an animated film look better/smoother when you switch on the so called "Anti-Judder" effect (Mostly found in 40"+ high end LCD series like Sony X series, Samsung 6 series above, Philips PFL5403 above) ? I know it does affect cinematic live action movies but wonder how a 2D animated film will look like.
Thanks.

Having said that, I have it turned OFF all the time.

well i dun recommend u to buy plasma tv if u are a hardcore gamer/hardcore movies watcher.. i believe the lifespan of plasma is way shorter than lcd.. i remember i read somewhere (u can google it later) saying that plasma lifespan is about 20k hours while lcd 50k hours

can ask welwitchia on plasma's performance.
Ur perception could be wrong tho

Lets see. If I take your numbers for 20K hours and I watch about 3hrs a day
20000/3 = 6666 days = 18 years. (Pardon me if my calculations are wrong, I just woke up

)
18 years.. can I seriously expect my Plasma to last for 18 years? Heck, I doubt I'll be using the same TV in the next five years.
People choose plasma for a reason, Picture quality. (Please don't compare with LED LCDs..that's another range of TVs)
Before my current plasma, I've used 3 LCDs for the past year and all three are nothing but disappointment, even the Sony W400. So far, I'm perfectly happy with my Panny.
Here's what CNET Australia has to say and the article is pretty recent (April 2008)
QUOTE
3. Lifespan
Lifespan, the number of viewing hours a television provides before dimming to half brightness, used to be one of the biggest advantages LCD has over plasma. Though the numbers vary among the different brands, they now generally last up to around 60,000 hours regardless of the technology.

well i had to admit that plasma is better than lcd in terms of picture quality.. but about lifespan of plasma, there are still debates going on about it since plasma is using a combination of noble gases (i.e., argon, neon, xenon), which glow red, blue, and/or green. Many specialist believe that these gasses cannot be replace. So at half life the phosphors in a plasma screen will glow half as brightly as they did when the set was new. Anyway, as u said welwitchia.. even if plasma lifespan can hit only 30k hours (assuming avg watching time in MY is 5 hours = 30k/5/365 = 16 years ++). Well people will change their tv set within +- 5 years... even i change mine in one year ++

From my reading i found that one reviewer conclude this.. it quite old article tough.. im gonna find the latest one.. please share if u have any links.. thanks

http://www.plasmatvbuyingguide.com/plasmat...sma-vs-lcd.htmlPicture Quality = Plasma Win
Computer Use = LCD Win
Fast-Moving Video Playback = Plasma Win
Altitude Usage = LCD Win
Longevity = Depends on manufacturer
Screen Burn In = LCD Win, but plasma seem to have solve this prob
Production Size and Cost = Plasma Win, a bit only
Power Consumption = LCD Win, LCD consume half of Plasma did
Price and Resolution = it's a toss up

Absolutely outdated information, bro
Initially, plasma has very short half lifespan. It increases over the yr. Most of the plasma has 60k hrs, which is equivalent to LCD TV

Nov 19 2008, 10:25 AM

2 - 3 years. It's time to change TV again

Yes.. it's seem that i've given outdated info.. but still these issues are still being debate. Well, obviously a lot of reviewer don't suggest gamers to use plasma coz u tend to pause(static image) a lot.. so i believe it's really depends on wut type of user u are.. in terms of power consumption i believe lcd is way better.
Added on November 19, 2008, 10:30 amyup ronaldjoe.. that's the point.. lifespan is actually not an issue if u always change ur tv.. just find a good manufacturer and tv's that fit with ur style

I think the one major point to look at above anything else in terms of LCD vs Plasma is the lightnings condition in the display environment, only then followed by everything else.

^ Good point. I watch my movies exclusively at night (gotta work during the day) and I usually turn the lights off and add a backlight to the TV. That's why I chose a Plasma.
As for gaming issues, I thought Plasma's low refresh rates (or was it high??) makes it suitable as tend to ghost less?
Watched Heroes Ep 8 and 9 yesterday in 720p..ah, absolutely heaven.. :-)

Hi guys,
I'm planning to buy a 32" LCD TV. So far what I had in mind is:
Samsung L32A450 - RM1999 at SenQ Sunway Carnival, Penang
vs
Samsung L32A550 Full HD - RM2799
The SenQ guy said no difference if I buy the full HD 32" coz in order to see the Full HD, better to get 40" or bigger. Might as well get the HD-Ready only is enough for a 32 incher. Is he talking the truth here?
I plan to hookup a PS3 to the Samsung 32" L32A450 + some normal Astro viewing & DVD.

No ghosting from plasma 0.01ms response time. LCD cant match it.

Guys, my parents want to buy sony bravia (which i could find sharp aquos but too bad i cant).
I saw KLV-46W400A(made from malaysia) today costs RM8999 retail. And KLV-46X400A costs Rm17999(made from japan). The 46W comes close to the X series. But at the same time 46V costs rm7499 also comes close to 46W. So which one is more worth? 46V or 46W? Do they have big difference in gaming? I use the lcd tv to play ps3 though. If not much different, ill go for 46V since its cheaper.
And how about the DAV-FXG99k speaker? Good?

The Z series SHOULD be priced below the X series, I think.
