Tot, u should survey prices for 37" also.

my budget only permits me to get a 32"....just go to Legend SS2 and you'll be surprise that their prices on LCD TVs/Plasmas are the cheapest in town. edvpc bought the 32" Sony V series last 2 weeks from them for only RM2950 with free HDMI cable worth RM1xx whereas Harvey Norman, Sony Stlye and Best Denki are selling it for RM3499.
I got 2 quotation for 37" LCD from them...
Sony KLV-37S310 = RM3900
Panasonic TX37LX75MK = RM3400

yes, they do accept credit card and if I'm not mistaken they'll charge xtra 2.5% or 3% and 5% if you opt for 0% interest. Their prices are still negotiable (depends on your bargaining skills). 37" Toshiba is around RM3500 IIRC.

Here's a simple review from 3rotor on 32" LG Plasma
QUOTE(3rotor @ Feb 28 2008, 05:28 PM)
I have personally tested the tv in alex's place, the picture quality is better than any 32" lcd i've seen so far, it is just like watching a high res crt, image are very clear and sharp, no blurry image, ghosting etc, even after long hour of testing (5 hours straight) my eyes didnt feel hurt/tired at all, component and hdmi can display in 480p,720p and 1080i, tested lower res' source the ps2 and wii using component, there are no blurry image or color washed out probelm, it is actually very good, i like it a lot, not like lcd tv u get very suck image while displaying source lower than 720p,
but there are 2 problems with this tv, when displaying ps3 source in 720p/1080i using hdmi, it seems like the source image is larger than the screen (horizontally) , you cant see the small part at the left and right side, it is like u already zoomed in the picture a little bit and u only get to see 95/100% of the source image (horizontally), so small part from left and right side is missing, we only notice this problem while playing gt5 and virtual fighter 5, because the position bar(gt5) and character name(vr5) of the games are placed at the very end of the screen, it does not affect gameplay but to be honest i'm sure not all the people can accept this, the other problem is while displaying pc source at 1024 x 768 resolution the words/characters appear to be quite blur, made it a bit hard to read, even if you set the font size larger it is still the same, 640 x 480 has no problem but the resolution is too low for web surfing.this is my small review for alex's tv la, for picture quality and sd source compatibility definitely current gen 32" lcd tvs cannot compare, the major problem is cant display pc resolution properly.

yup, they're selling for RM3.5k (the price I got was 2 weeks before and it might has changed)...Legend is now selling Sony Bravia KLV-32V300A for RM2,750

and they are selling Bravia KLV-32D300A for RM3.6k...After reading a review on this TV (

hehehhe..I'm afraid that 32" will be too small if I put it at my living hall so that's why I have to get a 40" as the D series doesn't have 37" (only S series has that size).
@lapaq, just go ahead...I'm also actually can't tahan but must be strong....amazon.com is selling KDL-40XBR4 (same model for KLV-40X300A here) for USD2000 and the shipping cost from US to Malaysia is around USD666 so the total price after conversion roughly is about RM8,531. Sony is selling it at RM15k.....that's about RM6,468 difference....the tv is multi voltage, i.e 110V-240V so don't need any stepdown voltage converter....very tempting...

Got another sale for KDL-40XBR4 at bhphoto...here's the price breakdown
KDL-40XBR4 = $1,895 = RM6,096 (30% tax = RM1,829)
Shipping (from USA to Malaysia) = $455.20 = RM1,456
Total price without tax = RM7,552
Total price inclusive 30% tax = RM9,381
*price conversion based on $1 = RM3.2
Even after 30% tax, the price for 40" Bravia X is still way much cheaper than buying it here, (RM15,000 - RM9381 = RM5619) and that's a huge savings.
@lapaq, if your main priority is watching HD movies than playing game (70%-80% watching movies / 30%-20% playing games) then get a plasma otherwise get a LCD tv.

If you use HDMI cable, KLV-32V300A can accept 1080p video signal and downscale it back to the native resolution i.e 1366 x 768. In other words, you can set your PS3 up to 1080p with KLV-32V300A.

Mar 21 2008, 10:39 AM
@ ICDP, you can do it yourself. Just go to bphotovideo.com and make the order there and they'll send it to you. One thing for you to really consider before buying things from US, there'll be no warranty from SONY Malaysia. If you really want to take this risk then go ahead.
Another thing to consider is, all US tvs only support NTSC color system so if you're planning to watch Astro then forget about it as ASTRO is transmitting PAL color system. All tvs sold here are multi system i.e NTSC 3.58, PAL, SECAM / (AV In) NTSC 4.43, PAL 60

yup, very cheap indeed, he's very lucky. I went to a Sony Authorized dealer at Wangsa Maju (near my house) today and they quoted me the KLV-32D300A for RM3.4k plus a HDMI cable and delivery for free. At first they quoted for RM3.8k but after bargaining that's the best price they can give it to me, so I will pay for the deposit tomorrow. Since I'm not going to put the LCD TV in my living hall, I've to settle for the 32" as the 40" seems to big for my gaming room (you've seen it

). Furthermore ASTRO still the best to be watched on my 29" Panny SDTV.
