Hi gal/guys,
I'm new to digital photography world & would like to take up this hobby soon, so i'm doing some knowledge collection from the experience user or gurus here.
I like to take pictures of live/human and i like to capture the happy & laughter moments like those in the party, gathering, wedding dinner/preparation, holiday trips....anything related to human.
Can anyone suggest me the suitable DSLR camera complete with required lense for newbie?
Budget around RM6k only.

My suggestion is you get Canon's G9 instead. G9 compact size is quite suitable for your written situation. If dslr then the budget dslr with kit lens is more than enough. Get an external flash like sb600 or ex480 to complement the dslr in low light predicament.

Point and Shoot camera can also capture moments... it's all about how you're using it that matters, seriously.

D300 not enuff la. 6k just nice for body only.
Anyway, get a point n shoot. If you want better control, get a prosumer. No point get dSLR when u are just starting. You might give up before even start to enjoy photography.

entry level dslr + 50mm f1.4 = WIN! for newbies.
add in a speedlight = DOUBLE WIN!
no point going for PNS anyway. with a good budget, DSLR is a good jump.

if you are a beginner who wants to venture into dslrs,
and have a budget of 6k,
get the nikon d80 kit a sb 800 or a metz flash, and a 50mm f/1.8 prime lens.
that should get you started.
or the sony alpha a200 twin lens kit which i heard its around 2.5k(izzit? correct me if i'm wrong) and invest the rest on the flash and some prime lens.
or if you're patient, wait for the canon 450d which is a feature monster.
from your description, you like to take portraits.
then you must have a prime lens like the nikkor 50mm f/1.8 which is capable of making great portrait shots.

Hi guys/gals,
Thanks a lot for all your information, I've a normal camera now, is that you call point and shot camera? Currently have one, Casio exilim & Panasonic Lumix FX-9 (red). I know it can capture shot, but it's not so clear and especially low light area, the pics sucks.
Looks like the Canon 450d is worth well to wait? But in dslr world do you have certain manufacturer is good in taking potrait shot, and certain manufacturer is good at landscape shots? Like civic & altis is about the same price, but one is good in performance and fun to drive, while altis is more to spacious and comfort, so each have their own strength & weakness. I'm not sure about this in DSLR world......any comment on this?
BTW, what is the pricing expected for canon 450d? What other lens or flash should I go for wot with with this 450d for potrait shots?
