hi there..
i need some help in OC-ing my PD 820. i cant get it to be stable at 3GHz.the best i can get is 2.98GHz with 1.3V..any suggestions for 3GHz?

are you on water cooling or what? better use high grade thermal paste coupled with volcano class hsf.

TS, read this thread i found,
http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=27108one of the posts even stated
"you can get the 820 up to 3.8 even hit 4hz with good enough cooling i was running mines at 4ghz stable but it was getting to hot so i set it back down to 3.8ghz stable its all depends what your set up is and if u got enough cooling"QUOTE(kaiserjr @ Jan 23 2008, 09:19 PM)

well, i'd say 50/50 as his question is "technical" & about "overclocking"..
so it can appear here or
Overclockers Unitedin any case, lets help him out as best as we can, lowyat.net forumers is one whole big family..

hmm... pump fsb lor, intel is pretty much simple

btw, it would be better if you listed your specifications. ( i will assume ur sig is not the one

) and xms2 sux balls
ericmaxman

XMS2 SUX BALLS?? wtf..never knew that...ok..now i want to sell it off..haha..exactly like my sig..can help?

i mean they suck because for the almost same price, you can get much better ocing rams, like balistix, team elites, gskill etc etc
O ok, as per your sig, hmm... nforce chipset huh? :S
well for starters, go to bios, set the ram ratio to 1:1, so that its the same as the fsb. then pump the fsb, and set the memory command to 2T instead of 1T to see how far they can go
oh yeah, one more thing is that nforce chipsets are known to be nuclear generators snce nforce4 days. so... check the temps of it la

Hav u done da steps as mentioned above???
N DDR2 800 can.... But it will only run @667

Might as well stick 2 ur old 1....

for waht you wanna add ddr2 800 rams to your system? its wasted power due to the NB bottleneck, heck even ddr2 533 will be wasted power hahahah, unless if you oc more then 266fsb ( QP for 1066)
hmm its normally called 1:1 ratio, or synchronous in the bios, it should be in the ram section
ericmaxman
Jan 26 2008, 01:28 PM
will try to locate the settings
Added on January 26, 2008, 1:32 pmhmm..there is none..but the is a linked for FSB..is it that one?
bryanyeo87
Jan 26 2008, 01:32 PM
but again, please be very aware that nforce chipped boards are nuclear generators. they are HOT, even at low fsb speeds of 800
ericmaxman
Jan 26 2008, 01:32 PM
i know..really regret buying it man..
btw, here is a screenshot..

bryanyeo87
Jan 26 2008, 01:40 PM
is that your stock fsb or have you upped it already?
the voltage for cpu is abit high at the moment, lower it to 1.3v first
ericmaxman
Jan 26 2008, 01:41 PM
i've upped it..the voltage lower it? ok..wad about the ratio?
done..the voltage now is 1.3000V
bryanyeo87
Jan 26 2008, 01:45 PM
FSB speed set it to stock. QDR = 4x the actual fsb
the NEW mem speed, set it to something lower, it should be the lowest speed, which is normally 1:1,
ericmaxman
Jan 26 2008, 01:47 PM
so, the FSB i set it back to 800? the ram lowest 533? or 400?
bryanyeo87
Jan 26 2008, 01:56 PM
if fsb is at 800
the ram should be 400
that is 1:1 ratio

anything more then that values are not beneficial to both performance and power consumption
coz the fsb is actually quad pumped, so 800/4 = 200
ddr2 rams run at 2x the rate, so 400/2 = 200
get it now?

then to overclock raise the fsb speeds only, the ram speed will follow whatever the fsb is at
ericmaxman
Jan 26 2008, 01:58 PM
ohh..thanks..will try..voltage?
bryanyeo87
Jan 26 2008, 02:05 PM
no pump fsb first, add voltage sparingly if non at all, it is to stabilize cpu or rams, or high fsb overclocks
ericmaxman
Jan 26 2008, 02:05 PM
darn..stress test hang at 3.01GHz..57 hot meh? then how come hang? voltage is at 1.3V..RAM at 400Mhz

bryanyeo87
Jan 26 2008, 02:30 PM
hurm, try adding voltage to 1.35v for cpu and rams 1.9v
and dont leave those auto overclocking options on, they tend to overvolt alot
keep an eye out for temps too, because pentium D are nuclear generators

use orthos or occt for quick testing on stability and temp checking.
What is the NB temp? during load and what is your psu?

@eric
get WC if you intend to OC pentium D man

Those darlings are like Angelina Jolies in the proc world. Nuclear Gens like Bryan said
