Well.. i can always help out on the "kitchen foil mod", for a fee of course

Anyway... for the 945GC based mobos, u only need the 266MHz BSEL mod as you'll be overclocking the chipset to 333MHz FSB, instead of making the chip think it's a 333MHz FSB processor.
I so far have no luck whatsoever with getting my BSEL modded to work in P35 chipsets though, have to remove it only it'll boot in my P35 motherboard(s) but it works wonderful on my 945GC motherboard(s).

geniousboy, no one will know how far you can OC.
ronho, you answer will be same like geniousboy's Q.
E2160 is meant to run at 1.6ghz, Intel never gurantee how far it can overclock.
Some E2160 max out at 333fsb, which is 3ghz, some max out at 350fsb.....
some even max out at 300fsb only.
So do you guys get it? Not all CPU manufactured have the same overclockability.
If so, why people busy looking for stepping, reading review, etc?
No free lunch dude.

ronho, u have 2 understand the purpose of the BSEL mod. It's to 'fool' the NB strap so it doesnt limit prematurely. the 945GC is only good on 266fsb. from there onwards, manually adjust the fsb till ur cpu maxes out@ stock vcore

Here are some information about 'super budget overclock' platform..
the board use in this review is a conroe1333 with DVI,the non DVI version is much more cheaper and i think the performance should be same,i oredi get my '
Wolfdale1333 d667' in Thunder Match at only RM145

,tis board will pair with my e2160 modded,i not yet have the chance to test the performance due to my other parts is located in my hometown, only can look at the mobo and proc everyday and imagine myself

the pricelist state '
Conroe1333 d667', but the stock they selling is actually '
Wolfdale1333 d667'...i think the performance is same

does this means a 1066fsb capable mobo can be oc to 1066fsb++ without any problems or limitations?

May 25 2008, 08:38 AM
The 1066Mhz and 1333Mhz spec's refer to the memory speed's that the mobo is capable of supporting....you can change the FSB speeds by changing the processor multiple setting in BIOS (if its not locked)

will get a E2140+stock HSF mybe next week, and get a decent 945 chipset mobo, n try to oc it, hopefully can get a good result
btw, a little silly question, is it a must we check with ohm meter after do bsel before put in the proc onto the mobo? coz i read in 1 site saying that (they r not saying it must, but they stated about it)

It is advisable, if you have a multimeter to check the connectivity of the connection before plugging in, just to be on the safe side.

aha, dumd of me to forget this thread---even got some posts here..

..managed to get 1 MSIn945 board and was surprised to be able to oc as the old biostar mb was a non ocer. e2180 went to 275 fsb (not yet push) and will report here later...funny that after bsel, the mb did not see the 266 fsb--so maybe didn't work...so its 200fsb direct to 275 fsb...if don't do bsel, what's the max possible???? tx

I have actually set my eyes on a Palit N35PV as motherboard for my target Rock Bottom OverClock system - the reason being that supposedly nVidia chipsets overclocks better than Intel ones on those budget KVR type of memories as the FSB is completely decoupled from the memory bus speed and the rest of the NB components. Unfortunately PC Zone who have listed it at RM195 told me that they are no longer stocking it, and the next cheapest nForce 7100 motherboard is RM215@TM (above the RM200 budget), so it looks like a 945G is the next best thing, unless anyone can point me to a good prices NF7100 mainboard.
Fortunately (or unfortunately) I'm thinking of grabbing a E6300 (I think) from a friend and those thing have 1066MHz FSB. Anyone here have experience doing this 1066 -> 1333 FSB mod ?

i jus change my asrock wolfdale1333 to msi 945gcm7.and change ram to this ocz ddr2 800,previously using KVR fp-y5.
i found tat my e2160 can reach 299mhz on asrock, but with tis msi board,i only can go untill 295,duno is my ram's problem or wat.since there is not much adjustment to play in this mobo BIOS,so quite hard to tweak it step by step
