Yes there is budget way and expensive way of doing things. I like the way zero dac is being implemented, the choice to opamp rolling. it is very fun rolling those opamp, if u have the time, try the LT 1057, LM 4562.
Lawrence says LM 4562 is suppose to challenge the OPA 627.
I notice AD are seldom used. if u look at AD 797, it was once so popular, that those marantz player sure have it.

I doubt it will be hot inside, since the tube is meant for buffer, the current out will probably in the mA range. some of the CDP and DAC also have the tube reside inside the casing, but with proper ventilation.
The tube being install outside helps in the rolling and changing of tube, and also to know if its working.

Maybe add a switch to it, so can select , like the op amps .
Better can be used as line in [analogue ] to get buffer , warm tube sound before output {if there is a switch/choice}
Sometimes, too hot to change the tube.

I also wish to try AD797 too, it's mentioned to be quite natural and warm compare to the AD house sound, but too bad it's not stable in the DAC section

If your computer got either SPDIF out or coaxial out, then you could connect the DAC through one of these connection.
NOTE: Red circled is Coaxial, Yellow circled is SPDIF
If your computer dont have these interface, then you could get a USB to SPDIF converter. Plug the USB cable from your com to this device then link the spdif cable with this device and DAC. Then it sings

I think CMY was selling the cheapest QED coax around 200+ at the AV show. Maybe you should go to Sungei Wang to check out the few audio stores there on what's available. Stay away from Monster tho. Most have shared that their product in general colours the sound.

my system falls into low to mid section
the weakest point is the cdp, so thinking of adding a nice dac to it, thts the 1st baby step i guess
others i dont dare to seelor...if really wana upgrade, each item will be few k...
RM600 for coaxial cable is kinda overkill to me. Last time I seen some seasoned audiophile recommend only to spend 10 - 15% max of your total budget on cables. Let say u wanna spent RM4000 on setup, so speaker cable + interconnect budget should be around RM400 - RM600 tops

On the coaxial, they are some poisons. Some say the expensive can give u the warmth or the neutral type, price up to RM few hundred.
But if u want starters, can talk to Abel. He can make some good coaxials or even pcworks I think. have u tried the optical or not.

Quite busy with some paperworks tonight.
I intend to pair with my 2 very old cdps ( more than 10 years cost 1k n 3k ), I hope to add value to these cdps.
Do you use the pre amp button ? Sorry no time to read the whole thread. Still rushing the paperworks .
I like the volume control whereby the output could be controlled to cut down the brightness of sound. Signature does change from original cd player.
Still need time to run in. Seems to work well with silver interconnect.
All I can after rolling the opamp, I still think the DY2000 gives the most forward vocal, and best of all, smooth. Hope to hear some DY2000 owners report.

I own a pair of darth beyers (modified beyer 770s) and find that they are sufficient in driving the headphones.. you can also ask madman as he owns beyer DT990 250 ohms...

I own a pair of darth beyers (modified beyer 770s) and find that they are sufficient in driving the headphones.. you can also ask madman as he owns beyer DT990 250 ohms...
Really? How does their sound signature? Do they have good synergy with the amp?
Currently i thinking for getting a littledot mk 2+ but limited budget
How the rca cable comes with the zero it is good enuff or should i go look for custom made cable?

tried with Senn HD650 (300ohm) n yes can push no problem... my DT990 is 250ohm so no problem. 600ohm dunno.
synergy is ok with my DT990. but i listen to metal, so the stock headamp is a lil too laid back for me. i ended up using my battery cute ii amp connected to the zero.
and the zero does NOT come with RCA cables.
