I need some opinions from all the experts out there.
Interested to get a new digital compact point and shoot camera which is:
1. Good for low-light photography
2. Able to help static/non-blurry photos
A friend of mine suggested Canon 860IS, because it can produce good photo quality. But after doing some research of mine, I find that for low-light situation cameras, Fuji F series seemed to be the best. So in between this, MAYBE Fuji F50fd is better
But for helping solve the blurry photos problem, Canon 860IS Image Stabilization is better it seems. So in this area, Canon wins.
To solve the problem of blurry photo, if the digicam is able to control manually the shutter and aperture, will that help or Image Stabilization will solve all the problem?
Cause I read that in low-light situations, where flash is usually best prevented, high ISOs and faster shutter speed can help capture a slightly noisy photo(which can be fixed using softwares), but non-blurry photos.
So, the Fuji F series, in this case, F50fd, is famous for low-light shooting, but not sure if can get blur-less photos. Canon on the other hand, is famous for its image stabilizer. One extra feature that F50fd has is the Shutter and Aperture priority.
Hence, I'm torn in between this two choices. Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks.

hmmm, i'd go for the Fuji. It has the image stabilizer built in it though, and its famous for low light photography, on the other hand the 860IS is just a good walk around camera.
Get the f50fd. I don think you'll go wrong with it.

I'm in the exact same dilemma as the threadstarter. Looking for a good PnS using non-flash yet producing non-blurry shots. Mostly used for taking baby pics, and I would not like to subject her to flashes and frankly, she won't keep still for photos

Seems like Fuji50fd is more favoured. What's the price like for these 2 cameras?
Thanks.

Fuji do have mechanical stabilizer - shift ccd. in a compact camera, i believe it work as good as IS. Ability to shoot at high ISO is another credit for fuji.

IS vs high ISO. I prefer high ISO that produce less noise.

Canon IXUS sell more because of good marketing, and also strong brand fanbase. Fujifilm not enough marketing, people only know about the Fuji film rolls.
But the Fuji compact have larger image sensor than the IXUS, it will produce better image quality naturally.
