hi guys! I'm just about fed up with the streamyx connection in my house which always disconnects so I was thinking of switching to Maxis 3G broadband. Just have a few questions before i make the switch though.
1) On average, how fast are the real download speeds of the 384kbps and 640 kbps packages that Maxis offers?
2) Can I use connect the modem they supply with a wireless router? I was planning to get the Aztech WL830RT4 4 port router but if you guys have better suggestions, please let me know. I'm looking for something below RM130 if possible but I wouldn't mind paying up to RM150 if it's really much better.
3) Since it runs on 3G, can I bring the modem anywhere I want as long as there's a power socket and 3G coverage?
Would really appreciate any help and advice. Thanks!

yea,i just got the power package too but I can't seem to get anywhere past 100kbps. Have you tried testing it with speedtest.net because I got about 1500kbps download but a miserable 50kbps upload! is the network really like that or is it just a miscalculation?
by the way, can you use the modem without the battery plugged in? trying to avoid it from overcharging

Yea, for wireless connectivity, it all depends on location, location, location. But in general, landline is always better than no line.

Do take note that Maxis has a capped limit of 3gb data transfer per month. If you're a heavy downloader, you really should take note of this.

Dont forget about 3GB limited for download and upload usage..
And please be careful about the speed. Dont try speed reading from maxis bb website. It will cheat all of you...
More important that you must know, if u want to download 1 song about 5 MB. It will take about 1 to 1 and 1/2 hour to complete the download..
Maxis will make you crazy with their speed.

Overall i'm very satisfied with it's performance. I'm using power package Rm98 the max dl speed is 250kbps but upload speed is sucks at below 50kbps. if u r an online gamer just forget about it. p2p is good at 12am til 6am. When it's raining the speed's going slow but it's normal like astro.

I noticed your Speedtest.net result, malaysia3g, and was just wondering which residential area is that? Is it anywhere near to Puchong?
