most likely their server instability/capacity issues causing the spike
and/or your firewall or other network configurations not being done thoroughly. it could also be your router's port blocking etc and needs to be forwarded. may want to check all sides before drawing a conclusion.
in the end im just worried bout the banning issue, because other than that the 200-300 ms is darn tempting and any bumps in their service i can troubleshoot it so long the problem isnt fully on their end.
I was looking through the tracerts last night during the bad lag spike, I think it was the peering from malaysia -> LP, there were alot of dropped packets in between. Not sure who's "fault" it is, it could have just been compensating for a router being brought down. Regarding the banning issue, if you notice both emails from blizz, the first said about exploiting economy (normally associated with accs being hacked) and the 2nd was for logging from elsewhere.
Both of these are *usually* detected by a rapid change in IP. Hence why I have been very careful not to log in using LP then suddenly log in without LP. The IP change there would be drastic (you can't realistically travel from msia->aus in a few mins, and blizz have warned about this on the forums a few times). Of course, this is just my opinion/interpretation, and I have said this even before I knew about the bans in an earlier post in this thread.
My only surprise is that blizzard isn't aware of the usual list of IPs being used by LP and hence realised that it was just a proxy issue rather than actually moving. I guess maybe that's why they dun support tunneling, its much more difficult to pin down where a PC actually is. And regarding using the account elsewhere from where u registered, I really don't get that part, I played US WoW from EU for almost 2 whole years and similarly, I have played EU WoW from malaysia during summer hols without a problem, so I'm not sure what they mean by that (unless its again, related to the rapid IP change).
Also, news about Internode using this sort of method further reassures me that its not bannable by Blizz, since blizz would be pretty quick to pretty much kill off any player using Internode to play WoW.
Just my 2 cents. Oh, and report regarding 40v40 AV, 260ms <3 <3 I'll post screenies when I can (at work atm). All I can say is, I might be willing to take a 3 day ban for this, I've not had this much fun in WoW since I returned to this country after playing on EU from UK (~100ms). It really feels like how it should be, my druid friend and I took on a rogue/warr/mage (all higher level then us and won), I can safely say that we probably wouldn't have if it were not for my spells goin off in time, positioning myself and CSing the mage at the right moments.
