lolx it's a registry fix for linux and also windows xp and vista. This actually lowers your latency due to the way WoW servers work. I've tried it and my ping dropped from 900++ to 600++ now =) need lower of course but i'm still trying out which one is which cos a bit confusing so just trial and error now till i get the right one running. and now my ping is 280 WOOT! AWESOME!!!

fjoru103, did the nite lag happened because of the daily BG honor updates? There's a short period (10-15 min?) of lag when this happens. Usual indication is loot lag but there's no chat lag.

read the thread linked entirely, and its actually dependable ONLY if you run linux or VM linux on windows. the registry fix is only a workaround that may or may not work and even if it does, it'll affect your windows connection globally, and lower ack means higher load on your TCP packets which means bad downloads such as torrents etc.
i might try out a VM to get linux running JUST to get it going, will see if i got the time to pour in the effort.

Advisable not to use this when ur lvling alt or something.. It connects you to WoW through a different ip which the server originates from, and then when you level up, Blizz can automaticly detect it as powerleveling service lolz..

maybe you guys using lowerping should petition blizzard, just like the aussies, for making this service acceptable by them. I mean like someone said earlier, PLaying around with the registry is not everyone's cup of tea. hehe

doing that will only result in you getting banned quicker.
lowerping vpn routing servers are mainly aus based, you change ur address to US, so what will blizz think when your physical person is in US, but your WoW character is in Aus? making sense to you?
myremi
Dec 10 2007, 01:16 PM
Hmm.... my address is a Malaysian address (for credit card verification) but have since gamed from Holland and USA.
So far, ok? I think Blizz's autochecking process also takes into account whether you're interacting with people or not. So if you're chatty in guild chat, should be alright. Provided it's not something that goes against Blizz ToS and they are able to detect it.
Quazacolt
Dec 10 2007, 04:26 PM
just a few sessions and not long term should be able to slip by blizz, or rather they dont really care. still hard to tell how they go by on catching/banning people that moves ip a lot.

Its these inconsistencies Blizzard have that make me not wanna get a legit service like lowerping

There was a thread about people getting their accounts suspended in lowerping's forums, and that the dudes at lowerping (dan & rangrang) said they're contacting blizz etc and asked us to wait for their update. Looks like they've deleted that thread? lawl.

Guys, do what Quaza said.
My GM set this up last night in 1hr and it works incredibly well. Its very easy to do.
You can basically get Lowerping-like results without any of the risks.
I'm setting it up myself now, using Debian + VMServer. Piece of cake, even for a noob.
Refer to my other thread on DIY Lowerping.

seconded.
however few things to clarify:
- lowerping will still be better by a VERY SMALL margin.
however,
- you risk getting banned using lowerping.com
- you have to pay lowerping.com
both works, and both has its pros/cons.
