Frequently Answered Question
Q: Do you log/monitor my traffic usage or connection details to deal with infringement legal letters that you receive?
A: Short answer NO. Long answer please read here Detailed in-sight stories are available here

Q: Do you accept payment via Maybank/Hong Leong/CIMB... etc?
A: No, we accept payment via Public Bank Berhad & Paypal only for Malaysian customers.

Q: Do you give me a dedicated IP address?
A: Dedicated IP address is useful to nail down the particular customer who brings infringement legal letters to a particular VPN provider. Some VPN provider decide to protect their own benefit by "assigning free dedicated IP address" to customers, which in the end the client is at the risk of receiving such infringement legal letter. At SecureAX Internet, we believe it is our responsibility to protect our customers, hence we do not track our customers with dedicated IP address.

michaelfoo
Hi,
What is your username that you requested?

It's impossible that your free trial request was ignored as I was informed all requests were attended.

Please PM me your username and I'll help you to find out from him.

Thanks and sorry for the trouble!

edit: By the way, I was told by my friend that there is still a pending verification Trial request account, which SecureAX has emailed him twice for his verification details (usually forum username which you see SecureAX's advertisement) If you happen to be the person, please PM me the username that you signed up for and I'll help you to get it activated ASAP.

Added on November 29, 2007, 3:35 pmJust found out from my friend that you're indeed the one who was on Verification Pending list.

Anyway, he said he did receive your email and your trialkey was sent, after verifying your status.

Enjoy using the service! biggrin.gif

Having problems trying to connect... at one point it seems to work and appears that i have a US ip.. but then bittorrent isn't downloading very fast...

now i just tried to connect 5 mins ago and I can't log on to the VPN at all... sad.gif
michaelfoo
Hi,
Just came back, surprised to know that the VPN server was down.

Anyway, I will suggest rictan to consider splitting the freeaccounts. There have been many freeaccounts added on the server recently when SecureAX started promoting its services and I'm suspecting things are caused by these free accounts, as I have never experienced any downtime in the past few months.

Will get rictan to evaluate the problem and make sure that paid customers like us won't be affected.

Thanks.

rictan
Sorry for the downtime caused.

I will be moving off free VPN account away from paid account server soon. Since the start of our business, free VPN account are growing way too fast as expected therefore causing some impact on our paid customer which we think that this is not what we want to happen.

Paid account will be moved into a new network soon. I'm expecting Paid accounts to be moved on the new premium network by next week.
michaelfoo
Hi everyone,
I have just had a 3 hours Video Conference meeting with Mr.Tan (rictan) the owner of SecureAX concerning the recent downtime and also ways to improve the services such that this incident will not happen again, viewing this especially from the paid VPN users' benefits.

After assessing the situation, my prediction earlier was right, where the downtime was caused by the massive inbound flow of free account users on the VPN server.

There are several amendments which I proposed to Mr.Tan (rictan), as both a user of SecureAX VPN service and also its reseller, which were agreed by Mr.Tan and hence I think it would be appropriate for me to disclose them in this forum, which will possibly benefit both SecureAX's potential customers and existing customers.

With immediate effect, there are some changes as below:
1. I am now an official partner of SecureAX. I will be able to perform administrative task on SecureAX VPN platform. This will provide me with higher level of access to SecureAX system. As I am in the UK, SecureAX customers can expect real 24x7 technical assistance through the ticket system, should they need our assistance.
2. The downtime today is simply unacceptable. I admit it is a mistake of SecureAX for not planning the growth of free accounts carefully. All existing paid customers will automatically receive 1 day of free service as a small compensation from SecureAX for the service interruption.
3. To ensure the reliability of SecureAX VPN services, the free account users will be separated from paid account users. Paid account users are expected to receive information on the new server as we are currently in the process of testing several *premium* network providers.
4. Free accounts application will be reviewed more strictly with user quota controlling and monitoring, although they will be placed on a separate server with paid accounts. As we want to ensure free accounts users get as stable service as possible, it is a must for us to filter out the troublemakers.
5. With our fair treatment policy, there is no biasness towards service level of free or paid account users. Thus, there should be an option for free account users to join paid account users on the *premium* network providers, if they are able to verify their identity. More detailed information will be provided soon.

And I, as an active member of Lowyat Forum will ensure that the members are able to escalate any problems to me and make sure that these problems will be resolved. However, please take note that any PMs sent to me will only be read when I am free to check the forum. Any urgent assistance may be requested through the proper SecureAX support channel.

Thank you very much and I hope you will understand that we will put in our best effort in giving you the best service.

Regards,
Michael Foo

one question what is the DL speed ? Is it 512K or 1MB ?

michaelfoo
Hi cktwai,
I'm afraid Lowyat forum does not allow support questions to be done in this forum. Please post your requests to the SecureAX ticket system please before the moderators take action.

Thanks.
yangxi

boring
I just get the Free account 2 days ago, this is before they separated the free & paid account server.

Just testing the normal browsing via VPN, the connection is quite fast and stable. No slowness like normal VPN connection. I will just use the free account for while I'm on mobile. Thanks for the service, keep it up! Appreciate it smile.gif
michaelfoo
Hi boring,
Thanks for applying for the free account. Well, there are simply lots of free accounts requests that were granted access, so obviously I don't know which is yours, haha.

By the way, we have not separated the free & paid account servers yet because the new server was just ready a few hours ago. I will have to wait for Mr.Tan to configure the server before it is ready to be used by the paid accounts.

I'm expecting the server to be ready in few days' time after configuration & stress test. Load-balancing will also be setup for paid account to enjoy higher availability of the service.

Anyway, thanks for writing the kind words for us. Really appreciate your time to do that.

Enjoy!
yangxi
VPN Fullroute with open high port. blush.gif
michaelfoo
Hi yangxi,
Which Streamyx plan are you using? With total speed of 193KB/s, it looks like you're using 1.544mbps ~ 2mbps package? biggrin.gif

That's a good speed, haha!
sendo
Hi,

Been trying the 1-day trial vpn service by secureAX since last night. So far, im quite happy with the speed. The average speed i can get with private tracker was 83.0kB/s while on public tracker, i can get around ~65kB/s. Perhaps the speed can increase when i subscribe it later on brows.gif
michaelfoo
Hello sendo,
Yes, you should expect the speed increment after signing up because of the new server on *premium* network that's on its way. Still under testing, mostly for its load-balancing & failover setting for our paid customers smile.gif

Glad that you enjoy the speed.

Thanks.
rictan

doubleton
Hi, i am a new user. I would like to know why i don't have a Private Opened Port when I check in the customer area.
michaelfoo
Hi doubleton,
This is the 3rd time I'm replying to you:
1 - Ticket
2 - My Lowyat PM
3 - This post

Well, I'm repeating the answer again here. We do understand the importance of private opened port in P2P but unfortunately, due to service abuse reasons, the port will not be opened for free & trial key users.

Thank you for your understanding.

rictan
Update: michaelfoo coupon has 1 LAST LEFT

doubleton: I regret to inform you that we are unable to open port for you because it appears that you just joined Lowyat Forum today to sign up for our services and in fact strictly speaking, our trialkey is only available for Lowyat Forum members with above 100 posts

why is that so? what other steps did i missed?
michaelfoo
Hi Beach_Boy(R),
I suggest you to submit a ticket to SecureAX as Lowyat Forum does not allow support queries to be done here.

Do provide your username when you submit a ticket.

Thanks.
rictan

Nah, i'm not a heavy p2p user so i dont need so much bandwidth

btw, if u dont mind me asking, im curious on why you guys are offering FREE VPN?
michaelfoo
Hello limjix,
The free account has only 1GB transfer/mo, so it doesn't actually cost us anything to provide it for free smile.gif

Frankly speaking, there is no bond or gimmick behind the Free VPN account. We practice good privacy policy on our VPN servers and we respect our users' rights.

What we do hope is that if you're satisfied with our services, just spread the words for us, be it for the free or paid accounts. Of course, we would be more than grateful to see orders for paid accounts but free accounts are equally important to us because it helps to test our system's reliability.

Testing reliability not in the sense that treating all these free accounts as guinea pigs, no. We have deployed our systems but we need users to use it, stress test it and bring it to its maximum before we can improve it.

Thanks and I hope it's clear smile.gif

ermm...server down ? Anyone having trouble connecting?
michaelfoo
Dear irzani,
Sorry for the trouble but our network provider has called out an emergency service maintenance:

QUOTE
PCCW Global Network Operations Center needs to perform an emergency reboot
of our router in our Ashburn POP. The reason for the reboot is because of
the replacement of switch fabric cards on the router in which you are
connected to. This work is servicing affecting.

START TIME: December 14, 2007 04:00 GMT
END TIME: December 14, 2007 07:00 GMT

DURATION: 3 hours, servicing affecting 15-20 minutes

SERVICES/EQUIPMENT: BR01.ASH01 router

PURPOSE OF WORK: To reboot the router.

LOCATION OF WORK: Ashburn, VA

IMPACT OF WORK: Loss of network connection during reboot of the router.

rictan
Hi everyone,
Sorry for the unexpected service interruption. As this emergency maintenance is beyond our control, we have no choice but to wait for our network provider to bring the network back up again.

Anyway, as a temporary solution, I am routing all the traffic to our new Europe server while waiting for this US network to come back again. Please bear with us that because the Europe server is not officially launched yet, should there be any issues please report them immediately to us.

To begin using the VPN on our new Europe server, kindly reconnect your VPN now.

I hereby apology for any inconveniences caused due to this incident, however, I promise that once our new Europe server is officially ready (in probably 1 day from now), such interruption will not occur to our paid customers, with our Load-Balancing Technology on VPN
