I would like to ask some question abt celcom 3G

1.How do I know my coverage area is HSDPA ?

2.if sign up for celcom 3G , is there any contract for 12 month ?

3.how much the ping to local flying spaghetti monster ?

u could call up celcom careline to check the coverage,or if your handphone/devices will show HSPDA signal or maybe 3.5G sign..

my Sierra aircard will show "HSDPA" if there is a coverage or "3G" otherwise



no contract as far as i know...u can terminate anytime if u find the service not satisfatory.


i have ping to yahoo.com....ping around 500ms but sometime have time out syndrome...

may I know how much the subcription fee?

I think you should check what the speed of Celcom 3G at yr area coz my area here especially after 6pm the speed veryyyy slowwww....celcom said due to many userssss...my recommend better digi unlimited plan...

Nope not the same...u can try find a converter from express card to pcmcia...or usb to pcmcia..u can check in the net...don't know whether can find in Lowyat or not??

just buy datacard with express connection,
if not buy usb modem

U can read the respective threads on actual users for comparison. Since last week Celcom has rectified they problems. & most of usual oledi got bck to their normal speed and some even got more than what they expected (i.e speed exceeeding 1mbps!!)

However not so sure how long it will sustain at this speed...Right now at 3G areas, on avg the stable speed since last week ~350kbps & on certain HSDPA areas, users been getting 1200kbps using Sierra datacard..

But b4 u go on wireless...check whether is it bcos of mobility or stable speed? Wireless (Even Maxis/Digi) will not gurantee stable speed. for stable speed >1300kbps go for streamyx.

I'm using in Pulau Ketam Celcom 3g but no 3g though.......sigh
Just pure gprs.Want to go for satelite broadband.Maybe the fastest and have coverage.

satellite broadband not that fast and certain online transactions wont accept if you're using a satellite connection.

Transaction meaning online banking? Not secure? Hmm never actually use it though.

BUT on avg those guys are getting in the range of 1200-1800kbps at HSDPA area and using the 3.5G datacard (up to 3.6mbps)..If u but 3G datacard only, u will only get 384kbps max! & not ~1500kbps on avg using HSPDA
