Err..just curious..

What if someone whos senior in technical roles with salary of ~4.5k and ~4yrs exp (system, servers and such) applying for SAP consultant role. What range of salary should he ask for this job since its a big hop and gap in term of roles
Yukirin
SAP stands for Systems Applications and Products in Data Processing in english. SAP originate from German. Systeme, Anwendungen und Produkte in der Datenverarbeitung is the German name of SAP.

SAP NetWeaver is just one part of many other part in SAP.

Those thread are dead thread whereby the original SAP Thread title 'SAP TALK" was gone missing.

All question and answer were stated there but now no where to be found. So, all the info from me and other SAP Experts that posted there are probably gone to drain (interviewer tips, SAP detail information, etc).

FYI, I not in SAP ERP nor SAP A1. I just involve in SAP B1. For now, I'm kinda lazy to explain again. So, IF you were interview for a SAP post. PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK(google, wiki,SAP Official Website). Majority SAP Partners interviewer HATE interviewee who come apply for SAP job post without a single basic understanding what SAP is.

edit: add the info of the thread that I mention (which is deleted but still can be found in search function).

I can't help you with that question becuase I'm not working in east malaysia. AFAIK, from the past SAP Talk thread. If you are fresh in SAP, and wish to work as SAP Consultant, that kind of salary range is probably alright for most company but when you first join in, the 1st year will be a harsh year for you to keep up and alot of qouta to meet. Then again, it still up to individual company.

Sorry for not informing you guys. That thread was hide from normal members view and closed as the thread starter was warned by his company because of something which cross-over/conflict of interest with his company that he is currently working with and his job is as stake. This thread will serve as the new official SAP thread instead.

I think there are 2 types of mentality around people working in SAP. One is doing SAP for the money while the other is doing SAP for the sake of technology/interest of it. I see alot of LYN member wanted to venture in SAP because of the high pay. Bear in mind that in SAP there will be alot of challenge in the coming years. The existing SAP Netweaver technology poses a new challenge even for a seasoned SAPer since new internet technologies been added i.e. XML, SOAP etc

The way forward is to embrace the new technology if you're interested to move with SAP. If not, why not consider to do the things you love to do ? When that is so, money will comes to you naturally with your expertise and passion that you've put into it. Besides, learning things you like is much better than learning for the sake of money.

QUOTE
SAP system is just ordinary SYSTEM... there are many types of SAP SYSTEM (or some call it Solution/Package) but generally we call it R/3 (from those days till now although the proper name now is NetWeaver) for the SYSTEM foundation.

So as per any SYSTEM, SAP System Administrators are just like any other Administrators... for an example, Microsoft Exchange Server Administrator. Administrators normally do those routine jobs like maintenance, backup, upgrade, patching, and once in awhile, involve in implementation.

This are the few post which i can help regarding thread starter question.

how can we viewed the old thread again?

i think theres alot of helpful information inside the old thread...

can try to filter those out? thumbup.gif
pisces_yann
Or maybe we can filter out the offensive remarks conflicting with the company policy as well as the thread starter's posts?

Just a suggestion.

OR, for those really keen on looking for more information, you can try googling in google for keywords "SAP Talk lowyat" and click on the cache file cache by google. Hope that helps.

A guide to those interested in working with SAP-related fields

(A) SAP Netweaver is the new platform for SAP products. There are more openings in this category, for freshers. Freshgrads with good programming (java) can apply for Netweaver Development roles (focus ABAP), XI or BASIS(soon netweaver).
(B) SAP Functional (R/3 | ECC) ERP stands on the netweaver platform. Openings for those with related backgrounds & experience in business processes. E.g SD,MM,FICO,PP,WM,etc.
© SAP CRM: A lot of openings from Axon & Ecenta. Freshgrads can apply as well.
(D) SAP BW/BI : Reporting tool for SAP. SAP Functional or Technical knowledge is useful here, one can be Techno-Functio here.

There are SEM,BPS,PS,IPS, but these roles normally require experienced consultant.

From what i see in the industry, fresher (non-SAP-experience) can venture into these fields (A,B,C,D) as some companies are willing to hire & train.

Please correct if i'm wrong brows.gif

Axon, Accenture & Ecenta.

For Axon, you will be bonded, for technical then you can move on to functional. The latter will send you to Europe for training.

Yes, everyone who read that thread before knows. Anyway, just glad that Mod willing to help up in quoting the some of the past information to this thread to answer the question that was brought forward in this thread. Anyway, I better involve less in this thread as well as I might get the same warning from my company.

there are so many different module/field in SAP.. which of them have higher demand in the market.. which one should we venture into.. and which should we avoid.?
or there isnt any difference as long as is call SAP?

Technical - Development team (ABAP)

Function - Toward business processes

Support - BASIS - Toward System Administrator roles(but this time, you take care of the R/2-R/3-R/4-Whatever platform they sitting)

This is more common 3 you could see at job ads. There is other like Proj Mgr, Team Lead, ABAP and such

Argh about SAP development..something like this..I might be wrong (I just apply what I learned)

MRP > MRPII > ERP > SAP > MYSAP (netweaver and etc etc)

It means job frequency. That particular job has been scheduled for e.g daily . Normally it's System's scheduled job.

Look carefully mate, it is not job frequency. The Ln column shows the spool icon. If the batch job produces a spool, the spool icon will be in the Ln column.

Silent thread since last year.
Actually i'm just wondering is it most of the company will bond the staff when they send you for SAP training. As i know SAP training is really not that cheap. But a 2 year bond somehow i think is too long.

Got an offer that working as Java developer but will based on the SAP Netweaver platform.
So would like to know more about it.

Depends whether you are working Implementation projects or support. During implementation fur sure you will work till late night but not with support. Support environment normally more conviniense since their working hours are fixed.

Hi, need some helps and advices here. I dun have any SAP experience.

I get two offers from a SAP B1 partner and a non-IT comp which going to build full SAP ERP (all modules) soon.

The roles in SAP B1 partner is a functional cum implementor whilst non-IT company is also a functional role and tag along with SAP vendor during the full implementation cycle (from scratch).

The salary is 1k difference, whereas non-IT company offer higher. Besides this, what i concern here is the path leading of B1 and ERP. As i know, ERP definitely are higher demanded than B1, does it hard to get into ERP from B1 in the future?

Which one should i choose? I need some advices here..thx! =)

SAP B1 is a scaled down version of mySAP ERP. In this case as a matter of history it was a software bought and retooled to be integrated with mySAP ERP for use in smaller companies who want to use SAP but got no $$$ millions to spend. It is very useful for trading companies as it would only involve financials, logistics, sales and purchasing only. It has no HR and production module.

In terms of career advice, I would go with the company that is about to implement mySAP. You can follow the implementation as well as the vendor. Careful, they would know that you want in of the action but generally they are nice people. By the way, who is the SAP vendor and where is the installation.

In terms of $$$, well i can say the best people in the business can make more than RM20k a month. However, the path is long, hard and requires you to be mobile. Being an SAP Consultant is like being an IT mercenary. They never hang around more than 2-3 years in the same job. Should you have anything else to ask, feel free to email me at albertus@redwire-global.com

Good luck and cheers!
