After i added 2GB crucial ballistix 6400 RAM with my 1GB corsair xms2 6400... I cant seem to OC over 2.5GHz...

Before that with only 1GB xms2 i can reach 3.6GHz no prob... Now cannot POST if higher than 2.5GHz... Also tried running with 5-5-5-18 timing ... They r running 1:1 DRAM:FSB ratio... Do i need to increase anything after adding RAM?... My comp specs r on my sig...

I would say more sticks of ram hard to oc.
And you are using different brand of ram although the same spd

Crucial Ballistix is D9 chipset but Corsair XMS2 only version 1.x D9 chipset.
My advice is sell of ur XMS2 ram

You might try increasing the voltage for the DRAM, but if you want to be careful you can find out the recommended voltage range and stay within that.
Extra voltage for the processor might help as well.

dude, just use the Crucial pair is enough, sell off ur XMS2 la~
both RAM might using different chipset, hence it may lead to unstable issue happen. And, just like -pWs- said, more sticks of RAM, more difficult to OC.

lol... Hold on i try ....
Added on November 8, 2007, 8:46 amUh... the XMS2 was holding up the other RAMs... But why more RAM harder to OC?...

it puts more stress on the memory controller, as simple as that

Why is it my memory benchmark is lower than when Im using 1GB XMS2 RAM?... Currently using 2GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer 6400... The latency also increased...
Here are the results:
With 1GB 6400 XMS2 RAM

With 2GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer 6400

the benchmark score is lower because the latency increased. latency increased due to memory controller trying to compensate stability with more memory banks.

I see... Thanks for ur advice man... 1 more question... My CPU Vcore dropped from 1.34 to 1.32 when running orthos.. Is it caused by the PSU or the mobo?...
soulfly
Nov 9 2007, 11:10 PM
either one, can't really tell. most of the time, the fluctuating reading on software monitoring tool are because of mobo circuitry, not because of psu.

Nov 10 2007, 09:29 AM
I think its the PSU... Because it fluctuate only under full load... And when it fluctuate the system becomes unstable...

No... soulfly is correct.
Same PSU work differently for different board.

Whats causing this? PSU or mobo?... Fluctuate(range from 1.18 to 1.31v) like crazy even without load... Sometimes only... The vcore shud be 1.35 which i set in the bios...

-pWs-Something is wrong with this mobo's firmware... Enabled or disabled no effect ... lol... But only sometimes the voltage fluctuate like that... After i restart it then no more...

E6600 usually need 1.55 vcore to fully stable @ 3.6GHz. Ur RAM should do 400MHz right?
IcEMoCHa
Nov 20 2007, 11:05 AM
1.55v? O_o... I lowered my clock to 3.4Ghz now... 1.34v only.. Its stable...

it may caused by Vcore fluctuation caused by mobo...PSU stability, usually depends on the 3.3v, 5v and 12v rails...

mostly it is but i think it have something to do with the ram itself aso..
