Yes it's works either using any 3G/3.5G phones, PCMCIA 3G/3.5G datacard, Express 3G/3.5G datacard or USB 3G/3.5G modem....all the same...

.But For everyone info, Celcom lone for the past weeks are bad. They admitted this and currently upgrading their service which they targetted by 11/11/07....So check the Celcom 3G thread for further update on this terrible service rite now....

Why u need to buy from celcom? Just buy the card from lelong.com or LYN Garage sales-lah...Just subscribe for the service & not the card.

want to ask...what is the different of connection by using usb/data card and using 3g/3.5g phone as modem???is it true the connection by using phone not stabil?any suggestion best phone can be use as modem for celcom 3g?thanx...
stimix
Huh so many such questions nowadays OK-lah here are the diff:

Pros on Datacard & Cons on phone

1) No need to recharge phone & no int battery - For phone u will surely reduce the battery lifespend from continuous charging & HOT
2) Lotsa datacard having HSDPA (3.5G) spec but phone wth HSDPA spec are very limited. Most phones (not all) still using 3G tech! 3.5G phone is expensive!

Pros using integrated phone & Cons on datcards
1) All -in one. Datacard have to bring seperately everywhere..some as big as Modem just lke those Maxis modem.

Interm of stability & signal strengh, I dun think any different...

try 2 answer.... hmm.gif

1) using usb/datacard

- can reach max speed ie; 384kbps / 3.6mbps depends on device dad u spend out...range price between rm400-900

- doesn't interrupt ur voice call...

- more privacy...

2) using 3g / 3.5g phone

- sumtimes certain model does not support max speed...on which plan dad u subscribed

- lack

Just asking....Is Celcom broadband worth buying for....I ask this because i'm looking for a reliable service...and is it necessary to get their wireless modem from Celcom....

I'm currently a college student in Masterskill College, Cheras and with money <RM1000....what kind of package IYHO is affordable and good for students like me? Is there anything that i need to know about Celcom?what are their pro's and cons of Celcom BB?

well....that's all for my questions.I just ask to satisfy my curiosity.

thanx and hope for swift replies...

The most affordable package is the RM68/mth unlimited but capped at 384kbps (previously not capped & speed can be higher than 1mbps!)..Who say u need to buy the modem from celcom? U can get it from Lelong.com or here!...I got my HSDPA/3.5G modem for only RM380 and now probably <RM300! The USB modem will be more ~RM500++

So all in u need a small investment of <RM300 for the modem & subscribe for the RM68/mth package ..1st mth is an advance & so u only start paying RM68 nett after the 2nd mth.

(I heard Celcom is giving out promotion of cheap USB modem now..sign up for certian mth & the modem is free) Let me check which thread......

So...there is no need to buy from them(Celcom)...PM me on how to buy the modem from this site....since i want to see how much it is offered from this site....

just this afternoon....I went to their site on
Celcom Products and Services just to find out more about Celcom Broadband and saw that the packages they offer is for those who have either Prepaid or Postpaid....so I'm asking this....IYHO which one should i go for...Prepaid or Postpaid...

2 days ago....I found out that there is a new 3G or 3.5G(HSDPA) coming around....If i'm not mistaken...it is the Novatel Merlin 3G/HSDPA ExpressCard(I forgot what kind of model is that)....i wonder if it is already on sale now....It was mentioned in Myceloteh.Com .
Also it is said that it will used for both Celcom and Maxis Broadband(I'm neither right or wrong on this.I'm just telling what i saw in his blog) and how much will that model costs....

What kind of cheap USB modem is that? hmm.gif what about try keeping me informed on the latest promotion on Celcom Broadband?at least,I know when to go for it when their promotion is still hot....

Is their package is suitable for a student like me since I can't afford expensive ones since I'm still a student myself.

Thanks and hope for swift replies.Apologies if my words are inappropriate on this post.

Just to add something .. I subscribe to D68. I notice that I can send sms for free to any mobile phone numbers... So currently I send like hundreds of sms daily ... partly for work and partly for leisure.. So those u like to use sms to communicate with others can give it a try ... Not applicable to those specially charged number like 33222 or anything of that sort ..

They will charge it because my friend also using the data package only. Don't scream if you have to pay more at the end of the month.
