Got a S64 2500+ 256kb cache last few days and finally had the time to assemble and test it.

Test BED:

Abit NF8 (stock) Flashed to BIOS 17
Sempron64 2500+ 256kb (default 1400mhz)
512mb KVR DT D43
Cheaplak GF2MX 200
Good Ole' Vtech 350w

Voltage @ Bios = 1.5v (It doesn't allow undervolting)

Currently letting it prime @ 2000mhz overnite, more results wil be up in a fewdays time.

Initial findings:

1. a 600mhz overclock from default it's definitely a good sign.
2. Probably, the NF8 isn't a proper board for pushing to the highest HTT.
Currently, from what i've read, highest is 320 HTT.
3. another 1700+/1800+ DLT3C craze? smile.gif
4. AFAIK, there are no databases for s64 2500+ OC result, so probably a
reference result here will be a good start. (Period)
There are results of s64 2800+ , doing around 2.5-2.6ghz. Probably this lower sibling will be able to hit as high as tat, provided if the mobo does high HTT.
5. IMO, should the CPU scales higher, the MOBO will be the limiting factor here and the DFI would be the best choice in exploiting the fullest of this cpu.
6. For those NF8 users with Enermax 431w, do take note, the combo isn't compatible. I can't get the Enermax to boot the NF8

dude... what's your 2500+ stepping?

anyway... let's make a sempron K8 database
PCcrazy
http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...dpost&p=3437739

soulfly, apparently we already have database for sempron. it's just that nobody notice it.
kucingfight
soulfly, i didn't jot down the codes as i was too excited assembling the sys.

Anyways it's primestable @ 2000mhz @1.42v. Haven try it further.

Btw, any S64 OC results to be shared here?
davidletterboyz
Nice OC!
2500+ is 1.4GHz and having 7x multi?
Cyclone87
My current HTT on NF8 is 331 with divider. Should be no prob hitting 350++ easily . All is the ram limiting me.

Here my 2800+ sempron64bit with NF8 too.

Nice HTT speeds u hav there Cyclone. Btw which bios isit? Prime stable? currently my max stable Prime95 is 308. Man maybe i should juz ramp it higher
sidewinderz
wow...s64 can beat my old A64 already...nice scores there...

but why issit faster?? other than the 0.09m architecture, the cache is also smaller...i just dun understand...if results are this good, i'm considering switching to S64....

i saw robyncom there got a sempron 2800+ 256k cache and a sempron 300+ 128k cache

which 1 should i go for?? and are those E6 steppings?
mind telling me your stepping guys?
ahpaul82
HERE, they able do 350HTT biggrin.gif, but vcore... sweat.gif
Using DFI NF4-4X mobo.

they said this two stepping can easily hit 300HTT.
Cyclone87
I do a quick try this morning and without 1.55v i cant hit anything above 345HTT. sad.gif

Stable at this . Slightly Overvol.

kucingfight, i realise something bout NF8. Even i using Icute 450watt , it give me same rail like actec 400watt. After few reading at MBM5, my +12volt constant at 12.10 and so do my +5v at 5.1v. Btw is ur mobo temp reading when priming can go up 115.5c? vmad.gif Den i restart straight to bios and it only 45c.
Malaysian
using asus k8n

latest result from mine

i found out that setting the ram clock of DDR400 to DDR333 in bios doesnt affect anything since im overclocking everything..

using sempron 256 k 2800+ 64 which is 1600 MHZ stock which memory running at 201MHZ/8

Memory running at CL 2.5 3/3/6/11/16

DDR running at 400 which is 201MHZ which is same with the above 201/8
HT set to 4 which is 4*200 =800 Bus

running 270 FSB * 8 = OC tuill 2160 MHZ

Memory running 216 MHZ/10

memory running at CL 2.0 3/3/5/10/16

set bios DDR runnng at 333 but....
HT set to 3 which run at this 216MHZ*3=810 Bus

overall 35 % increase from 1600 mhz to 2160 MHZ.

this is the best i get so far

never touch the Vcore and Vdimm..i leave it to auto or default.

memory speed i also set to auto.
kucingfight
@ Cyclone, MOBO temp? I'm using Abit's EQ, on max load 305x7 , cpu is 47 and sys is 41C.

I can only get mine to prime max stable at 305HTT. Think the board is limiting. Tried many combos of volts adjustments.
Cyclone87
My mobo sys temp= cpu temp, n cpu temp stuck at 115. >_< btw i already stop playing with HTT. Cant get throught 345 for me. It the mobo limiting me.

345MHz is really impressive.... Most NF8 mobo reviewers only hit ~310MHz. tongue.gif
BTW, what's your CPU steppings?

i believe they only running the HT X 2..not X3 or X4

they only getting 350.4*2 =700.8..i think it's impossible to get X3 HT which is 1051.2 bus.

AMD sempron running 800 Bus...

and they already set higher voltage

Malaysian
right now im still thinking how can i OC till 2400 MHZ running HT X2 only which will run at 600 Bus.

300Mhz X 8 =2400 Mhz
Cyclone87
I cant boot with HT x2. Need to set to x3 only can boot.
soulfly
Cyclone,

I only set my LDT to auto for a 300MHz HTT, but on some mobo, 3x LDT may be required.

BTW... I believe your stepping should be 0528UPMW... not 0328UPMW

2003 they dun have palermo yet tongue.gif
Cyclone87
Oops..typo...
wtm0325
cyclone87, u use icute450 twin fan to OC? will it stable?
Malaysian
means u r running over 900 bus at HT X3?
possible ar?

It kinda weird. That icute psu give me very good rail on NF8 even at high voltage n mhz. The +12 never go above 12.10 and never below 11.98. Same goes to +3.3v and +5v. Even some purepower oso cant be that good. I gonna stay with icute for this mobo.

Anyway it is proved that the LDT freq between 400MHz & 1000MHz doesn't give any advantage in perfromance or anything at all.

From DFI Street Forum. tongue.gif
soulfly
very very true indeed. what most important is the clockspeed, because the FSB is running at full clockspeed

laugh.gif this case same as me ... last time i also using cipak psu... n their +12 also stayed at 12.10+- .... all other rails are darn stable high voltage as well... but i'm quite scare those psu will blown anytime.... so i ended up buying a enlight 420w which is low rails low +12 everything low... so it's ur choice smile.gif

Gonna rest after this. Tired priming and test stability.

I still on stock heatsink +DeltaFF 92mm and so gonna stop around 340HTT until i get a better 1 .
My icute giving me good rail on this mobo. But on other mobo, it only 11.5v for +12v. sweat.gif sweat.gif

wah wah... so easily can do 2.7ghz!

palermo rocks!
e-jump
congrats dude..
even my a64 winnie cant do that sad.gif
soulfly
this palermo E6 is the lil bro of venice
sidewinderz
wonder where i can get the E6 revision...robyncom selling?
soulfly
look for any sempron 64 ... it should be the E6 stepping

non64 sempron should be either D0, E0 or E3

off topic & noob question...this nf8 mobo does not do dc right?...

u make me wanna keep my icute biggrin.gif

btw there is nf8 n nf8-v, nf8v seems cheaper n support raid, will it hv a big difference in OC?

my epox 8rda+ kong edi, if cant repair hv to switch to s64 to suit my budget n OC needs cry.gif

btw izzit s64 3000+ & above got cool n quiet tech oni?

Kinda down with my mobo. It limit at HTT 345 FSB. I gonna let this 2800+ and grab at 3100+ with 9x multiplier. Hope can hit lot higher . Will update soon.

if it's a Sempron64 ... it sure does support AMD64 technology, regardless any speed it's rated at....

the xbitlabs that you read must've been covering the 32-bit version
ahpaul82
AMD Sempron 3100+ E3 (s754) does not support 64bit .

If im not mistaken only Palermo E6 BX stepping support X86-64bit .

correct me if im wrong . biggrin.gif

btw when will s939 sempron come out? will it better than s754 a lot?

939 mobo expensive....

faster if it support dual ddr
or ddr 2

If sempron clock around 2.5ghz, would it overtake a S939 A64 3200+ which is operate at 2.0ghz i guess?
