SweetTooth
try SD sh-8 invader
xxzufrixx
ooowh ok... how about SD sh-4 jb model? is it good?
SweetTooth
that's a very versatile pickup, you can get many sounds from it. for higher output, go for the invader
xxzufrixx
ooowhh ok.... nightwish use sh-4 and its sounds great... maybe i gonna buy invader... but one more thing... is it suitable for epiphone g400? i heard sd pickup sound depend on type of wood ur guitar is...
sean392
It's true for all passive pickups.
SweetTooth
will adler from lamb of god also uses the JB pickup, still can churn out tight riffs.

i still think your amp plays a big part in your sound. i know mine did smile.gif

the sound is more natural than emg and im guess it is versatile...
evalshtog
then i will probably swap my 81's with it
xxzufrixx
what if i put emg afterburner on seymour duncan jb/'59? will it give more output and gain?
mingdynasty
question...wana replace my LP's pickups so this is it

emg 81/85 set = zw set right ?? and then they is this famous 81/89..

whats the difference?? and how much will both cost me ?? @.@

err btw... me already have a ibanez pmg.. so if i install this.. will sound same ???*i hope not* cause i read these set of pick ups also towards metal hard rock...

thanks in advance..
SweetTooth
the 89 is splittable
blacktrix
81/85 is USUALLY the most common configuration.
There is also 81/60 which is popular too........
But according to the website, the 89 is closer to the 85, but able to coil tap. The 81TW is the 81 but with coil tap.
SweetTooth
EMG seems to be promoting the 81/60 set a lot now.. especially in guitar world magazine
mingdynasty
so which to go for ?? 81 89 or 81 60 @.@ god save me the misery @.@
SweetTooth
depends on what you're looking for.. do you need the coil tap ?
mingdynasty
how bout 81/60 ... 81/85 and 81/89 the difference is just extra coil tab right ?
ristikol
89 is push/pull switch type.
u can push for 85 and pull for 60.
this pickup really amazing notworthy.gif
evalshtog
howd u push or pull? (forgive my noobness bout pickups ,i need a match for my 81 also)and how much is the 89?
blacktrix
ristikol, isn't the 89 a 85 with a push/pull for a single coil rather then an 85/60?

And a push/Pull switch means you have to install a new Push/Pull controller knob or switch on your guitar....... and if it's a switch, means you have to drill a new hole in your baby tongue.gif
mingdynasty
wah drill hole.. =,= like tat i rather get tje 81/85... so its 81/85 or 81/60...

81/60 = versatility right ???

81/85/89 for morel like rock metal type ??
evalshtog
might go with 89.drill onlyla =)
mingdynasty
=.= no thanks
ristikol
sorry to all.forgot to mention.
89 actually combination for 85(humbucker),60(single coil).
so,u can switch 81/85 or 81/60.
blacktrix,u no need to drill hole in ur baby tongue.gif
just install at volume controller knob.very easy.push/pull at volume knob.
evalshtog, 81/89 per set totally expensive.new one almost rm900.ask woh fatt or bentley for info.but i think now they no have stock.
try buy at e-gay tongue.gif
but i'm bought 2nd from my member last week.so,it's very cheap brows.gif
if u swtich 81/60,soloing very superb.the sound..fuhhhhh............like michael angelo batio and yngwie malmsteen notworthy.gif
if u arpeggios, the sound very clear.u can hear note per note.
and also plucking,fuh..fat sound
60 is single coil,so thats why the sound very nice.
evalshtog
already got an 81.ask bents redi its 430 for the 89 =)
blacktrix
Ristikol, have to correct you there..... the EMG60 is a humbucking pickup:

http://www.emgpickups.com/displayproducts....6&catalogid=173

Quote from EMG themselves:

QUOTE
While the EMG-60 still features the close aperture coils loaded with ceramic magnets for the brightest attack of any of our many humbucking models, this pickup also packs plenty of output with both clarity and cut through high end. The EMG-60 is incredible for rhythm guitar as metal and extreme players have discovered. James Hetfield's signature ESP models use EMG-60's because their distinctive crunch sets any rhythm player apart in the mix of a band that pumps a lot of mid-range from the stage.

And when I meant you have to drill a hole, I meant if you install a mini-toggle switch.

The EMG89 is a single coil AND a dual coil pickup. It sounds similar to the 85, but with the ability to switch to a single coil version like the SA single coil pickups.

http://www.emgpickups.com/displayproducts....d=6&catalogid=6

From EMG's website:

QUOTE
Inside the EMG-89 pickup are both single and dual-coil pickups, each with its own output. The single-coil mode is an Alnico loaded stacked EMG-SA. The dual-coil mode consists of two Alnico loaded coils opposite one another creating a pickup similar to the EMG-85. A push/pull volume or tone enables you to switch from the clarity of a single-coil to the fatness of a humbucking. Virtually noiseless in both modes, it can also be used with several EMG accessories such as the SPC, EXG expander, or the PA2 preamp booster.
mingdynasty
so means 81/89 = best of both worlds??
Crusnik04
how much for emg 81/85?
evalshtog

generally active pickups like EMG81/85 combo or SD blackouts will get the job down. but passive pickups can deliver too
