I love the Humbucker from Hell pickup... Especially in the neck position...
It has a unique single-coil-ish character to it...
Beautiful sounding pickup!
*

CooL! That's what I wanted. I assume that it's a bright sounding pickup, but can I back off the tone knob a little and get nice and thick creamy leads too??
Rossie
Yup, it has that single-coil grit there...
The single-coil-ish character is a little thin sounding...
Try listening to Dream Theater's Images and Words album, Petrucci used a HFH neck pickup...

BTW: Tool fan here too! thumbup.gif

I'll look out for the album then. Tool and DT rocks!! thumbup.gif thumbup.gif BTW I was wondering if there is another way to get EBMM guitars besides from Bentley..
Rossie
Sinamex from SG...
You can try asking SMX for details...

Anyway, SMX will be the distributor for EBMM and Taylor at the end of the year...
Wait and see maybe?
blacktrix
Bents says the EBMM will be with them too. As in, 2 official distros....... nice.
Rossie
That's great for us customers... Now we'll see who has the cheaper price...
But I still do not believe what Bentley says, they often just crap...
I'll ask EBMM...
echobrainproject
thats weird to have 2 distributors. maybe bentley will just have stocks but theyre not the official distributor.
jejari7
does anybody knows where can i get gfs pickups in kl? is it possible to install a split coil humbucker in my squier tele-custom to replace the stock humbuckers?
SkylineFreak
Hey guys, what pickup do you think swap for my bridge position pickup? I'm using an Epiphone Les Paul-100 and I already have a Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro pickup on the neck position. Do you think the Dimebucker would blend nice with the Alnico II?

I need some advice. smile.gif
SweetTooth
i think a JB in there would be awesome

yes..it can
supercolossal
I think all 4 (or 5 don't remember) conductor Dimarzio humbuckers can be split.

Can anyone recommend me a good pickup to complement the bridge Super Distortion on my Les Paul? Currently looking at Air Norton and Humbucker from Hell. Prefer Dimarzios.

Also, does any local shop stocks a P-90 replacement pickup? Gibson, Dimarzio or SD are fine.
anthrax33
need some help from sifus! notworthy.gif
i have a squier tele and i usually play blues and some rock from the 60's and the 70's
but the stock pickup is damn noisy... sad.gif
i am planning to change pickups and the EMG T seems nice
so my question is,

1.)how much roughly does it retail for over here?
2.)does it have the signature tele-twang?
3.)does it sound like a single coil at all?
4.)i dont really play metal so, will the sound be extremely sharp? (i like something in the middle)
5.)any other alternative to the EMG?
6.)any one tried or heard the sound of LACE pickups and how does it sound?

thanks in advance! notworthy.gif

Depends on what you want... The HFH isn't as thick as the AN...
blacktrix
EMGs are really designed for high-output, so if you're not really into metal, you should look for something else.

You should take a look at the DiMarzio Red/Blue velvet. Very smooth tone and probably what you're looking for. Mind you, this is a single coil pickup and NOT a humbucker.
Everdying
but if you really still want active pickups.
then seymour duncan's livewire classics is a good choice.
the duncan mustaine livewires is also suppose to be based on the JB and Jazz passive pickups, how they sound no idea tongue.gif
kurtkob78
i just learn about this fernandes sustainer. Is it a pickup or a pedal effect ? if say i buy a sx lp copy, how to use this fernandes sustainer. should be very nice to solo with the sustainer.
glassjaw_music
anyone knows where i can get an ebow in malaysia? or, singapore? pls tell me A.S.A.P.!
Rossie
I think Woh Fatt has some old stock lying around... Last time I heard it was RM600...

Swee Lee in Singapore has them... I think it's around SGD200... Got mine for much less... smile.gif
don8ld
what pickup does randy rhoads use on his les paul?
Crusnik04
me using stagg les paul copy,hv a solid alder body and rosewood fretboard.i wanna change the pickup cos it no good.I lean toward metal music so what pickup is best suit for my guitar?is it hv significant improvement?
sean392
Well, for metal, most will suggest EMG's but I personally don't like EMG81's on an alder body. EMG85 might be alright.
However, I've heard Seymour Duncan Blackouts on alder body guitars
which I have really been awed.

Note here I'm not a big fan of active pickups.

If you don't wanna have the minor hassle of changing batteries every few months, get passive pickups.
For metal, Dimarzio X2N, EVO, and Super Distortion is quite a general recommendation and quite popular amongst high output lovers.
From Duncans, JB and Invaders are quite popular also.

They all cost generally bout 350 - 420 brand new, though I'd suggest you look into the second hand market, since this stuff rarely breakdown.
Crusnik04
maybe i will get dimarzio super distortion coz of the high outpu, but sd invader will be good too bcoz synsyter gates of A7X using it i'm A7X fan smile.gif

It is a pickups sized device where you replace your pickup with.
When activated, the note from a standard guitar pickup is amplified and fed back into a separate pickup coil giving a continuous sustained note.
Nice to solo with sustainer?? i don't think so...
more like you could do lots of fx with your whammy bar... or other fx
I have not tried it personally though.
Rossie
Another nice substitute to the sustainer is the Ebow...
But of course, it'll be alittle more leceh...
blacktrix
The other day at Bents, was drooling at this, the Ibanez AS73T

user posted image

The only thing I felt was lacking was that the pickups were a little less punchy as I would expect from a semi-hollow. If I DID modify the pickups, what pickups can I actually put in?

I was thinking of maybe DiMarzio PAF anniv or Air Zone......

Might get it if I have left over change from my US trip.
sean392
Gretsch Dynasonic or Filtertron xD
or Gibson PAFs xD
Everdying
gibson burstbuckers.
blacktrix
Blah. If I find cheap burstbuckers in the US, I might get a set. Otherwise, I'll upgrade to DiMarzios.

Or heck, go totally insane and whack in EMG 81/85 tongue.gif

Buy the chrome ones of Ever too!!!
skindred
Hey guys..

Those high output Dimarzio pups pricing are more expensive than the medium output pups right ?

Or the price is actually around the same ?

both of it is around the same price..

the more expensive Dimarzios are usually the artist series , i.e Dimarzio Evo , D sonic
but i would think that medium-low output pickups are harder to find , since a dimarzio distributor would probably bring in more sellable high output pickups
Rossie
Why does the D-sonic consider as an artist series?

hahaha..dono..but the way dimarzio is marketing it ..

whenever somebody says D sonic..straight away "JP" will comes in the picture ..
anyway , i think D sonic used to Originate from stock pickups found on RG565 ..Dimarzio just created the improved version

Oh, I shee I shee...

But IIRC, D-sonic was out before JP started using it... And that Brad something guy from Linkin Park started using it before JP...
Do you have any experience with them? Would love to here your comments on this pickup...

i have both the Dimarzio D sonic and the RG565 ...

all i can say .. Bassy ,ballsy pickups ..very riffing ..and very powerful..i think the harmonics for the top strings are awesome too..
the older D sonic has slightly lower output than the new one..
not really my cup of tea cos i prefer a super middy and trebby pickup like evo smile.gif
Rossie
Your bar towards the bridge or neck?
blacktrix
Yeah, the Evo is a real beautiful pickup..... but it really highlights EVERY nuance of your playing. So if you play crappy, you'll know.

I plan to stick them into my S Prestige IF I ever get one ala Herman Li tongue.gif
Crusnik04
i wanna know witch one the most highest output of seymour duncan passive humbucker?

if i want to swap my ltd mh50 stock pups to emg..
whats d best combo? is it 81(B)/85(N) or 81(B)/60(N)??
whats d different btw 85 n 60? ive never tried those 2 before, just 81..
i want some opinion everyone biggrin.gif ..thanks..
Rossie
I would go for the 85 in the bridge, and either another 85 or 60 in the neck...

The 81 is just too trebly, it just irritates me... The 85 in the bridge is very versatile, as you can do metal and still do another genres without it being overly trebly...
Everdying
my fav combo is the 85 / 60A.
i had that in a epi LP which i sold off...but the pickups are still with me waiting to go into a SG sometime in the near future tongue.gif
