Just asking by setting lower value of the psb like 533 or 400 can boost higher o/c?Because i am not sure about using lower psb values.Any hints for this?
*

Anyone can help me to clarify this?Recently no extreme overclockers visit this thread already?Haha, long time din see ztlee already.
kucingfight
Nope, changing the PSB doesnt affect the overclocking. Tried it myself.

this is because MBM5 only read speeds during start-up only. it will not scan the new speed when it is change after that. smile.gif

Your V-core is very high.Using the 3:2 division can make your cpu go higher?By right your RAM should be running on 200Mhz(DDR 400).Now only on DDR333 speed and it's consider underclock.Your RAM is running on 174Mhz and the FSB is about 261FSB on your cpu.Why not  trying the setting on 5:4 division to get the optimum performance between your cpu and the mobo? The RAM timing should be adjust to loose a bit if u want to go for higher CPU speed using your current division. What chipset is using on your Kingston KVR?If it's Hynix DT-D43 then you will have a very good result on 1:1 division one since those D43 series can go on 250Mhz on default setting very easily.
I hope that you understand what i am expressing here. thumbup.gif

when using 1:1 division was only able to push to 220mhz on my rams sad.gif, Can't remove my rams to check what chipset coz my 3d card blocking

yeah when using 3:2 division can push till 3.5ghz but rams running very low. Don't really know about the performance thought as i dont have any benchmarking software to assess it. ok now changed to 5:4 division but only able push till about fsb 235 mhz , rams about 180 mhz, push any further and prime95 will come out with errors just after 1 minute.

Ive also loosen the timings to 3-3-3-6. v core has changed to 1.6, vdimm set at auto . Should i keep this setup or should i revert back to my old setup with 3:2 div? Any ideas how i could oc more? or have i reached my limit?

Since its been too long that no Intels owners have the chance to talk about overclocking results, tips and tricks, might as well i start one. If the both Mod see that this is an irrelevant thread and should be demolished, no hard feelings for me though.

All Intels fella unite here to let the whole LYP that Pentiums still rocks. I've left the AMD world and it seems that sooner or later i'll be back to play Intel.

wat u think man..... u think intel can beat the amd overclocking performance, don shit me. if u say mmx system , intel is the best. now the new technology cpu also not much different, but AMD still leading for the cpu performance, floating, interger processing .... only mmx lose to intel. so far only intel follow amd technology. check probably 1st.... AMD vs. Intel??? i think intel only wan money.... amd want technology

SP2004/Prime95

I don use memtest/86 --> Reason?

Eventhough Memtest shows error free of a certain FSB speed, it sometimes will fail when tested with SP2004/Prime95

Memtest86 is more on testing maximum hardware potential. Mainly the ram, cpu, memory controller and circuit boards.

While for SP2004, it is for testing maximum best optimum condition under Windows environment.

So, for me, I usually use memtest86 to find out the max that I can go. From there, I roughly know what is the max I should go in Windows. I usually will start at about 10% below the max Memtest86 speed.

This is due to if we oc too much and then run Windows, sometimes Windows or hard disk will be corrupted.

i got a prob with my p4p800 and a celeron d 2.4ghz.

set my DDR400 rams to 266mhz (ratio 1:1) and start pushing the fsb. can go up to 175mhz - DDR 350, celly at 3.14Ghz def voltage prime stable. But after 177mhz, the system becomes unstable no matter how much Vcore i pumped. why like that? anybody can help?

Sorry for the late late reply guys, ive checked my rams, The chip is kingston and the serial is D3208DL3T-5A, i have no luck in pushing any further with a 5:4 division, ive also uped the vdimm to 2.8v, Blue screens keep appearing when i start pushing fsb 235 onwards. I think my rams are the limiting factor here. Sad sad.gif

what is the 'safe' maximum limit of the Vcore for a Northwood? By 'safe' I mean won't severely shorten the lifespan of the processor.
raymond5105
Not to pump the Vcore beyond 1.7v is considered safe at your statement.
nelza_ax
yupp..it depend on ur core..
presscott using the lower voltage than northwood..
but it's hot like helll sweat.gif
raymond5105
Celeron D is using prescott core,Vcore is lower but hotter.Althought like that, all Vcore not exceeding 1.7v is more safer and won't shorten the life span(for northwood and prescott core).

The CPU benchmark is a bit slow on a 3.5Ghz speed compared to the northwood proc on the almost same speed. But nevermind, just try on higher speed on the RAM.I believe you will be able to acheive on 260FSB with some tweaking. notworthy.gif

I'm currently using a 350W PSU which i think is the bottleneck for my system. Planning to get a 450W PSU with double 12V rails, hopefully I'll get better result. Cant get the system to load into windows at 260FSB, not enough power to spin the HDDs doh.gif

Wao,only using 350W PSU.A bit dangerous for your system. But can be o/c to 3.5Ghz is very good already.Keep up your work to o/c higher after getting new PSU.
