hmm it doesn't show any CFM indicator on it.The only difference that I know between the two fans is that one has a .016A current and another another one has a 0.44A current. The 0.16A has a relatively small fan and heatsink. But i do need to know if this fan can support P4 3GHz.
antonio
does it both has the same size...???

The P4 2GHz is a bit smaller in size compare to the P4 3GHz.
apexi78
though it can fit but it's recommended to use the 3.0 hsf, cos intel won't be simply increasing the dimension and the fan power just for nothing.
btw, ur 3.0 is prescott? or northwood?
pengster
QUOTE(allenultra @ Aug 23 2005, 06:15 PM)
davidjun, for ur case. Heat will be a big issue.

I'm using xp90 + delta focusflow and I get 47c temp.
With stock hsf.......around 60c? tongue.gif
and then what ram u using?
if u using a ram that cannot stand high fsb, use the divider.

But then if u want to overclock ur 2.4c, change the PSU and the hsf.

and pengster, 2.4c should run at 200fsb in default.
u sure u using a 2.4c?
*

yeah im using 2.4....but i dun tink its 2.4c,i tink its 2.4a..my default is 133x18 n i cant change da multiplier..its locked...o yeah wat do u mean by use da divider?wat does dat mean?how 2 use?lol sorry noob in oc here sweat.gif

I'm not sure if this is the right section or not.But I just to ask if a Pentium 4 2GHz cooling fan can be use with a Pentium 4 3GHz HT?

The original P4 3GHz cooling fan is too noisy and I want to change it to my old P4 2GHz cooling fan which is virtually silence.
*

I would say throw in some money for a better heatsink.

Like thermalright, hyper6+, etc.

pengster, try check ur bios.

There will be divider like 1:1, 6:5, 5:4....

First their power consumption is lower and then their memory bandwidth is better and you have a SLI platform.

i heard intel got SLI too... whistling.gif on new chipset..

QUOTE(LittleLinnet @ Aug 25 2005, 04:19 AM)
well, clock speed isn't everything
the architexture of AMD and P4 are diffrent
AMD can perform as well as intel but just at lower clock, not to mention multitasking for single core AMD.....
But if take AMD X2 to compare multitasking with intel......hehe......
*

AMD only wins if prescott disable the HT....AMD X2 should compare with Pentium D dual core too tongue.gif btw im intel user here..
LittleLinnet
lol...AMD XP can't compare with dual core lol
AMD 64 or some stock FX will win prescott is HT disable
but with AMD X2, it pwn Intel on multitaking also, but just, the price sweat.gif

i a newbie biggrin.gif after reading this thread, i tried to overclock my computer...but the multiplier is locked? what can i do to unlock it?
allenultra
Intel not like AMD unless u with Engineering sample.
I believe u really a newbie, Intel multiplier always locked.

u can only raise the fsb if u want to OC.

P4 2.8E s478 rev C0 (the 1st version of Prescott)

o/ced to 3.58GHz prime stable @ 1.55V
255mhz FSB
5:4 divider (my lousy KVR d43 ram can only do 248mhz max)

haven't got time to try higher FSB. air-cond billl to expensive (the thing darn hot on my xp-90)

hi..juz wanna ask and clarify sumthin here..im using 2.8c and manage to OC to 3.5ghz with 5:4 divider (250fsb)..manage to get 3.7+ before but not stable..btw im using 2x512 apacer ddr400 cl3 ram..

my questions:

1. I wanted to use 1:1 divider but i know it is impossible to do so wif my lousy apacer..izit possible for me to increase the vdimm and get higher fsb wif that 5:4 divider?

2. Wut is the highest vdimm that the apacer can stand? hehe so worried if i misraised the vdimm n burn my rams..

thanks to all sifu..

reez you can up Vdimm up to 2.9 V at least to be on the safe side.

what is the best oc mobo for LGA775??
shinjite
For OC, Abit/ASUS/DFI and etc

Oh yeah, does Abit boards still flunctuate during load on the LGA models??

hmm... don't take asus p5p800 lga775 board...

i can't oc over 3.6ghz ... max is 3.6ghz.. can't go further no matter how i try...

if i get the best OC mobo..
then what cooling is the best for prescott..
not over than RM 190..
want idle temp at 30"c+
yuckfou
get either thermalright xp90 or xp90c.
but if ur using prescott i doubt it can b around 30c after OC.
for that must go for watercooling oredi.

idle temp should be around 40c++

NewbieBetta
Izzit really Intel board cant OC cause im using an Intel board sweat.gif
ijan
just noticed this thread...hmm...fuss fuss biggrin.gif

anyways intel mobo is a NO-NO for overclockers since..there is no way of modifying any 'MHz'.
Evogenix
i think newer Intel's motherboard BIOS settings have a "Burn-In" feature which allow you to overclock 4-5% from the default speed.
but the vcore, vdimm locked

environment temp also affects the proc temp.
make sure casing airlflow is good.

im using prescott 2.4A 533 mhz and keen to know how far can i OC?

i read some website and it says that stepping of 2EL able to touch 4 gig

My stepping is the same

right now i able to OC till 3.24 gig without touching the Vcore...

anyone can provide any info?

I got the P4 2.8E, prescott 1MB L2 cache. and idle temperature is 42c and when i use to play warcraft 3 3 hours the temperature around 52c, after i close the warcraft 3, the temperature will slower down from 52c to 44c with in 10 seconds. but when i oc to 3.0 the temperature will up to 60c not full load. i think if full load, then ................, so anybody suggest me a good CPU cooler heatsink, less than RM100,

Thermaltake or cooler master suggest me tongue.gif

It is normal for prescott to run that hot, but you have to be aware of thermal throttling as well. There will be no gain from overclocking provided the processor is throttling down due to excessive heat. Attached is a monitoring software commonly used to observe throttling activity.

Anyone suggest a good cpu cooler for my P4 2.8E?
