hmm it doesn't show any CFM indicator on it.The only difference that I know between the two fans is that one has a .016A current and another another one has a 0.44A current. The 0.16A has a relatively small fan and heatsink. But i do need to know if this fan can support P4 3GHz.

though it can fit but it's recommended to use the 3.0 hsf, cos intel won't be simply increasing the dimension and the fan power just for nothing.
btw, ur 3.0 is prescott? or northwood?

davidjun, for ur case. Heat will be a big issue.
I'm using xp90 + delta focusflow and I get 47c temp.
With stock hsf.......around 60c?

and then what ram u using?
if u using a ram that cannot stand high fsb, use the divider.
But then if u want to overclock ur 2.4c, change the PSU and the hsf.
and pengster, 2.4c should run at 200fsb in default.
u sure u using a 2.4c?
yeah im using 2.4....but i dun tink its 2.4c,i tink its 2.4a..my default is 133x18 n i cant change da multiplier..its locked...o yeah wat do u mean by use da divider?wat does dat mean?how 2 use?lol sorry noob in oc here

I'm not sure if this is the right section or not.But I just to ask if a Pentium 4 2GHz cooling fan can be use with a Pentium 4 3GHz HT?
The original P4 3GHz cooling fan is too noisy and I want to change it to my old P4 2GHz cooling fan which is virtually silence.
I would say throw in some money for a better heatsink.
Like thermalright, hyper6+, etc.
pengster, try check ur bios.
There will be divider like 1:1, 6:5, 5:4....

the architexture of AMD and P4 are diffrent
AMD can perform as well as intel but just at lower clock, not to mention multitasking for single core AMD.....
But if take AMD X2 to compare multitasking with intel......hehe......
AMD only wins if prescott disable the HT....AMD X2 should compare with Pentium D dual core too

It is normal for prescott to run that hot, but you have to be aware of thermal throttling as well. There will be no gain from overclocking provided the processor is throttling down due to excessive heat. Attached is a monitoring software commonly used to observe throttling activity.
