hi Kuntau!

Fyi, I'm using cpu-z 1.47 with the same cpu like u and a dfi mobo. It shows the correct 8.5 multiplier. If EIST is on, it will show the 6 multiplier on my cpu-z during idle. Cheers!

yes u can use usb drive but u will need the "hp tools" software to put the file into ur usb.... but seriously i have never done it.... just some info that i can share.....

if u wana flash from windows, make sure all ur application is off.... or just load diagnostic startup....

flash at ur own risk tongue.gif
celciuz
Depending on your motherboard manufacturer, my Gigabyte can just go into the flashing utility from the BIOS and it will detect my usb right away. All I need to do is extract the files to the usb drive.
dro
i flashed an asus P5K like 2 nites ago using usb
it was easy....there's a utility called "EZ FLASH 2"
it does the job for u in bios.....jes need to select which file it is smile.gif
krainsyafiq95
if i want to overclock my E6420,
just go to bios n only setting te FSb or other things?
what stuff must be good to oc?
psu?mobo? else?

Select from where? Floppy or USB drive?

ok back to business. Now I think cpu-z is buggy because CoreTemp give me the correct value. See screenshot below hmm.gif

Hi guys and gals,

Trying to OC my Q9450, so far managed a stable 3GHz (350*8) sync with ram (Corsair XMS2 800Mhz)
Voltages:
Vcore 1.15
FSB 1.10
Vdimm 1.9, 4-4-4-12

Tried out on IBT 15 loops.

hmm.gif Its working at stock voltage! Try higher!

Ok i tried 3.2Ghz (400*8) on my Q9450
Voltage settings I got from another OCer in another forum having same proc and mobo as me.

Vcore 1.25
VFSB 1.20
Vdimm 2.1 4-4-4-12
VNB 1.4

Passed IBT 15 loops,

Realtemp shows idle at 45C while max temp during stress is 67C.

Trying to keep the temps lower than 70C, 65 would be just nice, as I read this is the recommendation for 45nm chips.

Gonna try to lower the voltages more.

Comments and advices are welcomed.

What motherboard are you using? I don't think you need 1.4vmch to run 400FSB. 1.3 or less will be sufficient...

Urs is EO stepping right? Take your time bro! Coz from the stock vid we can expect the overclockabillity of the chip. My vid is 1.1V for stock speed. Cheers!

Using evga 750i FTW mobo. I tried Vnb 1.35, getting BSOD during IBT. 1.4 no BSOD, can pass 15 loops.
Managed to reduced vcore to 1.2375v. Gonna try to go lower.

Erm.. THERMALRIGHT IFX-14 you think can fit in CM690 casing or not?

just done this...
note that the vcore is 1.525v , i put that high because wanna make it stable... actually 1.475vcore is enough tongue.gif
2.5vdimm to make DDR2 1100 CL4-4-4-4 , PL 9 , trfc 30 doh.gif
vmch +0.1 from default.

I think I couldn't go more after 4.5ghz doh.gif

Guys, I have a bit of a problem here with OC...
I OCed my rig(as in the sig) to 4Ghz = 500x8 @ 1.375v vcore...on 1:1 though...I've already passed OCCT and Orthos for cpu stressing (8 hours) but when I'm surfing the net with mozilla firefox, it sometimes give out an error...and my utorrent also got error this morning which it never does...

The question is do I need to increase my cpu vtt voltage to make it stable?

erm...try OCCT 8 hours.... if u can pass that then it shud not be a problem gua.... occt can test stability better than orthos imho....

if not just run prime95 for more than 12hours....

u can try vmod the mobo.. google for info.
but imo asrock mobo will adjust the voltage automatically. maybe u'll have option something like normal,high,turbo.. whatever.
for stock cooler 3.2Ghz is already limit i think.
i used to have northwod 2.4 can clock up to 3.4Ghz but after 1 month my electrical increase by 50% then i change to AMD. i still kept my northwood 2,8 but rarely boot it. I think prescott can go much higher if u have better cooling and psu. but rather than invest to a good psu and cooling better u just re-built ur pc for cheap core duo now. higher performance and cool running.

p/s asrock still consider better than asus vm mobo. its really suck smile.gif
