yeesss... i oc from the bios.. thats why i disabled d.o.t..... but still can adjust voltage.. its read only..
from what i understand;
oc from window, enabled d.o.t.
oc from bios, disabled d.o.t.
d.o.t. is msi software to oc from windows. but in this software got option to increase voltage.
should i oc from windows then?

i think u should use bios to oc, able to change the voltage, as if you use software, i think it will only overclock as it boots into windows.

Guys, I'm abit frustrated on my oc. Rite now I'm doing 3.35GHz @ 1.45 vcore, already tried lower vcore, not stable. This is the minimum vcore for my oc and still failed occt after abt 5 hours, lower setting failed in minutes. Does my ram have to do abt my stability issues, or I simply got a bad batch?

but then seriously speaking 4x1gb is quite hard to OC compared to 2x1gb...
i think u can try with 2x1gb first n see if its really the 4x1gb is holding u back loh...

if its failed at lower vcore pump more vcore into it.
like my 2180 when i oc it to 3ghz it only need 1.365 but when i oc it to 3.2ghz it needs 1.425.from 2 to 3ghz just need extra 0.02v but another 200mhz increase require another 0.06v.

finally i manage to figure out how to adjust voltage for my setup
manage to oc up to 445x8 at 1.256 vcore, and 2.1 for vdimm, and end up unstable.
orthos for 7 second got error and ibt only pass 1 out of 5.
any idea how to stable it? do i need to increase vcore more? i see my vcore quiet low compare to others

what's willamette average temp for idle and load? mine is p4 1.7Ghz overclocked to 1.87Ghz (+10% increment bus speed), stock vcore, stock intel cooler.
temp 48C idle and 63C load.using OCCT for stress test.
Added on October 1, 2008, 3:06 amupdate: i lowered the bus speed to stock back. i forgot that this board doesn't have AGP/PCI lock

Hi all I need help..
I just bought Q9550 & Asus P5Q.
Q9550 should be running 2.83GHz with 8.5x multiplier but cpu-z showing me only x6 or sometimes x8. From my previous experience this is some kind of CPU saving mode.. but I don't want this.
Anyone know where I can disable this?

Hi guys.. Unfortunately CPUZ still showing only x8 multiplier after I disable all those CPU feature.. It detect correct in BIOS tho ( 333 x 8.5 = 2.83GHz) but in Windows it is (333 x 8 = 2.66GHz) only.
Or CPU-Z give me wrong value? What else I can use other than CPU-Z?
Thanks

by reading ur statement there i suppose u use the wolfdale proc but cpuz cannot detect the .5 multiplier.
its either u have to flash ur mobo bios to the latest one or u use the old cpuz.
