If you're stressing the proc, make sure you use the "Small FFT - stress CPU" option rather than the "Blend test" in orthos.

That's a nice OC.... last time, my E6750 was running 24/7 @ 3.5Ghz @ 1.425v (set in Bios)....  smile.gif (Not a gem proc....)

yup2.. i did that to at first but forgot to take pic.. anyways the result was 60c average.. huhuhu quite high
kmarc
Unless you are using applications that loads your CPU 100% all the time, that temperature is ok....

For normal usage, the core temperature will probably seldom reach that high.... smile.gif

Guys, I'm in need of some help here. My Q6600 on stock cooling on EP35C-DS3R achieve around 48'C at idle at 65'C at load under Prime95 at stock speed. I'm thinking that it's too hot.... Is it? How can I improve the situatioN? I'm still waiting for my cpu cooler to arrive maybe in a week time.... I dun even dare to OC seeing such condition.... Is there any possiblity that I'm not mounting the stock fan correctly? I had some difficulties mounting the stock fan and I remount it after clipping it to the place.... I remove the whole stock fan and put it back... Will this be a problem? Btw I'm using Lian-Li PC007 and i had those temperatures with my side panel opened

frankly speaking, we as normal/power users don't need an excessive overclocks. my 965P-DS3 died on me in 1 year after running 3.2GHz 24/7. tongue.gif

so test ur limits only to see what ur cpu is capable of. my limit was 3.4GHz (on 965P-DS3). Never tried much on my P35 cuz im planning on stickin more time with it. tongue.gif

i think for most users will be happy for 3.2GHz for all day long (as i do video/audio encoding/dvd ripping) so i need the raw speed of dual core systems. (Quads are better of course!)

with my current p35-DS3 rev 2.1, currently running quite happily as the technology improvement in gigabyte mobos. it ran cooler and reliably so far even at high FSB. (requires only minimal voltage increase @ 1.8ghz fsb)

with proper cooling on ur cpus, good mobo tweaking, u can go further.

so good luck! biggrin.gif

Hai...I'm a beginner attempting to overclock my E6300...

But, I'm quite confuse and also disappointed with my current result as u can see on my attachment.

The problem is I need to increase my vcore to 1.344v. But, u guys just maintain at 1.21v n even got much more higher result. Also, my idle temperature also very high.I dont know the real problem is.

May u guys suggest me what should I do to reach higher result than my current result. smile.gif

Currently this is my spec:

Mobo: Gigabyte 965P DS3

Ram: Corsair XMS2 1GB x 2

PSU: Acbel 450W

CPU cooler: Scythe Ninja Rev.B
fesick
bro 9th,i`d say ur result r good edi..
only mnor of them can achieve that kind of result
9th
oh...is it edi a good result? But, as u can see on my attachment, the

vcore is very high i think. 1.34V and my idle temperature already around 60~70.

what do u think is the problem there?is it my Ram or my mobo or my proc itself?
PeowYong
its considered as a good result already...
i m using a E6300 with 965P-DS4
voltage also the same as urs shown in CPUZ
but the my temp is lower... idle around 45°C,
wut cooler are u using by the way?
9th
Oh..i see...

I'm using Scythe Ninja Rev.B as my cpu cooler...

thinking to buy a new fan for the cooler bcoz current scythe ninja's fan is too slow i think...

bro.. get those with 5000rpm fan speed.. max airflow.. but the noise sweat.gif sweat.gif need to bare with it
9th
yeah2...hehe...sure2...

if there is a fan that faster but not produce to much noise maybe i will consider to buy it... smile.gif

now i'm about to buy performance fan from AllnGap...now waiting for his reply...
sukatra_aicaca
wanna ask here...
i'm using e6750 with cm hyper 212...oc to 3.2ghz..
the temp on idle is around 50c..why so hot aaa hmm.gif

1.33v or so as a start is good. thumbup.gif

hmm...could be ur HSF not properly secured or ur TIM spreading not good....

other than that casing ventilation is important too...

btw bro... whats ur max clock on stock vcore?

1.38 booh

yup.. i think vcore too high.. 3.2ghz shd be around 1.35vore i think

is there a different version of C2D. I mean the same model but different

batch. Once b4 my fren told me there is different between AMD X2 3800 F2

and F3. Is Intel C2D E6300 also got a different version?

bro sukatra_aicaca,sorry misslead there..i tot ur processor is e6550..
ur vcore..quite ok,bout the temperature..u try update ur "core temp" first

i mean the furthest stable clock u can go on stock vcore ...

anyways... u can go n try REAL TEMP smile.gif
sukatra_aicaca
is that my stock vcore rite? (in red circle)

[attachmentid=439561]

i try on 3.6ghz on 1.4V.. sweat.gif
but didn't try with stock vcore.. doh.gif

in vincentlaw review his e6750 stock vcore is 1.325v..
mine is 1.28v ? rclxub.gif

and when i reset to default 2.66ghz and default vcore..this is the temp with Real Temp

[attachmentid=439566]

if u so worrie bout ur temp..
just apply new tim on ur ihs
tkh_1001
@sukatra

erm.. i dont know if that shows ur stock vcore though cos i have never used rightmark before tongue.gif

but u just go into BIOS n set ur vcore to "normal"

then ur proc will run at stock vcore already...

u go n have a try on that 1st n try to find the max clock u can get thumbup.gif

i'll try.then i'll post it later nod.gif
sukatra_aicaca
from the kmarc 2torial
i set 380 x 8 = 3040mhz in bios
then is oc 'sikit demi sikit' in window with easy tune from 3040mhz to 3200mhz with stock @ "normal" vcore
in cpu-z the voltage is 1.328v but why in easy tune the volatage is 1.387v ? doh.gif

[attachmentid=439629]

the temp is high sweat.gif
i think thermal paste is the problem hmm.gif

maybe can't go high with that temp. doh.gif
i'll be back when my Tuniq-TX2 arrive nod.gif

@sukatra

i guess u tertekan the "save" button on ur ez tune5 ler... try to adjust ur ez tune5 vcore to 1.28v n then click save again... i think that is ur VID under ur hardware monitoring option right?
sukatra_aicaca
here right?

nope...i meant ur eztune5 hardware monitoring under pc health section wink.gif keep on trying bro icon_rolleyes.gif

ya..i know..i show the VID...not the software... nod.gif

anyway,1.387v can't change to other value la bro.
i've changed it to 1.325v,and save.
then i restart,it become 1.387v again.

bro, this happen to me too... but im using DS3 rev 1.0.... imo manual tweaking (go bios and tweak) is better and i prefer doing that compare with using eztune because i have this kind of difficulties also where when i set something at eztune then when i restart the pc, the setting will be where i started from..

ya ya.. tweaking using eztune not good lah.. eztune also alot of probs so far..
best is in bios nod.gif
ham_revilo
not to say not good la... my eztune still can increase or decrease fsb but not voltage... the voltage will only set on windows but after restart everything goes back to normal...

ps:im not sure bout other but that is what i experience from my gigabyte mobo....
fesick
i use eztune pro on my ds3..
if lazy to restart pc just use eztune loh..last time only manage to go 505fsb..nut so effete, mobo couldnt resist
sukatra_aicaca
i've update my easy tune 5 to easy tune pro...but after restart, that easy tune cannnot use la..error... doh.gif
maybe my temp become high coz of my cap ayam icute casing kot... doh.gif

i dont think its becos of casing.. i also using cap ayam casing.. but i let the side panel open at all times..

2 things i noticed about eztune5 / eztune5 pro:

- 'original' always same as 'current'...
- after few hours it will close by itself, saying theres error rclxub.gif
sukatra_aicaca
hak hak...
i also dunno what happen with easy tune.. laugh.gif doh.gif

That could be because it is corrupted due to previous unstable overclock. It could also be because your current overclock is unstable.....

hi, i have OCed my e2160 to 2.9g with stock voltage and cooling. i think i got myself a gem coz i suspect my proc can break 3g with stock. however my ocz reaper 2x1g pack holding me to hit ddr1000. anyone can gimme some guide on this ram timing & how to reach 500mhz?

p/s: i read at software discussion subforum that vista is not suitable for OC coz of heavy load. is it true? im using vista ultimate.

Well you havta increase your vdimm up a notch and looser timings...CL5
But bro its better you use 1:1 to check your proc OC capabilities 1st then the rams..
2.9 on stock vcore and cooling is a good start... flex.gif
gamers maniac
ok, i'll try finding the max of my proc on stock. btw the ram is currently at 5,5,5,15 wif 2.2vdimm. wif 2.3vdimm can do 4,4,4,15. both on ddr950@466mhz. anything above this setting will give memtest error. however except for those timing i set manually, other option i set auto. mybe anyone can give guide? my mobo abit IP35-E. tq

p/s: 3gig wif slight increment achive! rclxm9.gif however the ram sweat.gif can't reach drr900. if not 3g wif ddr900 for daily used will be d greatest thing happened to my life thumbup.gif

one thing bout eztune.... i always experience error pop up by eztune even when i didnt oc my pc... everytime startup surely have that kind of error saying GUI MFC fail or something like that... thats y dont really like using it... it gives me a feeling that it is not a stable software... no offense though as it is only my thoughts...
tkh_1001
@revilo

mine used to have that problems too... its not a sign of OC instability, more of a software issue i would say... but if u are in an OCed state and have already run the eztune n suddenly it close by itself after sometime that will really mean ur OC is unstable... more likely to be ur memory i would say tongue.gif

Yup. Like tkh_1001 said, the startup problem of easytune5 is probably due to software bug. I too have the same problems on startup.

The sudden closing of a program, however, is usually due to unstable overclock. It could be any programs, like orthos, prime95, superPI, etc (while you were stressing your rig......)
D-Zire
i reckom the best is still go to bios and tweak the settings....coz for me eztune i use it to test the settings...if i'm confirm and wants the settings to be permenant i'll go to bios and set it again....=)

but to me the easiest tweaking method in windows is still by using eztune5 as it covers vdimm n vcore adjustment as well thumbup.gif

alright thx..

but to tweak.. is it safer to do it in 'bios' or 'eztune'?
tkh_1001
no harm tweaking using eztune provided it is functional well n giving response to what u set .. i find it very useful for me last time on my ds3... until i got this DFI that don have any fsb nor vdimm/vcore tweaking in window cry.gif

but the bios tweaking options for dfi is great though tongue.gif
